This position is a pay grade 25 and is a temporary position. Provide leadership for all marketing communications efforts in the Midwest Region, serving as a member of the Regional Leadership Team. Work as a regional extension of the National Marketing, purpose-led transformation, and the regional fundraising and mission teams to further the Foundation’s awareness and revenue goals. Serve as a Brand Ambassador, educating the regional market of our mission and advocacy efforts. Develop media relationships and recruit/train volunteers. Synchronize efforts between the various communications specialists to ensure consistent application of our brand in the market.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop a comprehensive regional marketing communications strategy that works to amplify and promote the organization-wide goals, national marketing efforts, major market opportunities and regional fundraising goals annually. Ensure that all communications specialists in the region are aware of the goals and are held accountable for implementing the regional plan. Serve as a March of Dimes Brand Ambassador, educating the regional market of our mission, brand and advocacy efforts and provide them with the tools and resources to do so. Develop media relationships and recruit/train volunteers in his or her market while also overseeing the same activity for their staff. Communicate national marketing/ branding/ communications/ PR directives and ensure consistent application of our brand across the coverage area. In that capacity, actively seek ways to reduce redundant or unnecessary marketing collateral, social/digital media etc. Ensure the consistent use of templates (which will increasingly be provided by national marketing) by the communications specialists, serving to ultimately reduce the numerous variations of our brand in the market and increase brand recognition. Provide continuous education to communications specialists, fundraising staff and volunteers reinforcing the use of templates and eliminating the need for additional customized collateral particularly for major events. Provide support for regional fundraising efforts by “localizing” templates to include regional sponsors etc. 
  • Member of the Regional Leadership team. Attend regional planning meetings, representing Marketing Communications, and assist the regional office in the planning and development of these meetings including scripting and staging. Assist in the selection of communications staff for the region. 
Educational Background: 
College degree.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 7-10 years experience. Supervisory experience required. Experience developing marketing communications plans and executing against those plans. Strong project management skills needed. Location can be regionally flexible.
