The Sr Software Engineer – Salesforce Specialist will be the primary Salesforce technical developer and heavily involved in maintaining applications deployed within Feeding America’s two Salesforce Orgs. This individual will coordinate specifications and deliverables with business partners plus design, asses, code, configure and troubleshoot software programs and applications. Will lead and manage system testing and change management to ensure successful delivery to the business in a timely and accurate fashion.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Design, develop and maintain business specific programs within Feeding America’s Salesforce Orgs, in conjunction with internal staff and external partners, with attention to long-term organizational needs.
- Participate in all aspects of Salesforce releases, including feature review and impact analysis, planning, designing, building, testing, deploying, supporting and documenting.
- Assist Salesforce administrators with the configuration and support of the Salesforce Orgs, as well as related Salesforce applications, such as NGO Connect, Drawloop, Rollup Helper and others.
- Troubleshoot issues, provide recommendations, and implement solutions in the areas of data integrity standards, data quality and overall Salesforce system usage.
- Manage and perform testing and validation processes, including UAT and Quality Assurance, in Salesforce and integrated systems.
- Take a lead role in collaborating with end-users, business partners, programmers, analysts, and designers in the development and initiation of new software programs and applications.
- Partner and mentor programmers, analysts, software engineers, project and program management to implement effective project methodology based on the size and scope of the effort.
- Design, document specifications, review code flow, code, test, and peer-review application program code to ensure functionality and appearance of applications meets requirements.
- Manages the quality assurance process of program code and program logic, data processing, and error resolution.
- Interacts with directors, managers, clients, vendors, and agencies to field queries and questions and respond in a timely manner for prompt rectification of problems, emergencies or general inquiries.
- Develops and maintains user and technical manuals, guidelines, and flow diagrams.
- Designs and takes a leadership role to collaborate with network administrators, systems analysts, programmers, other software engineers, and vendors to resolve defects in software products or custom systems (hardware, software, or database).
- Installs software products for technical or end-users as required and in conformance with standards.
- Serves as subject matter expert on existing and emerging application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
- Assist with developing and managing budgets for departmental strategies and technical projects

Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree or 7 years of relevant work experience required.
Skills/Experience:
- 7+ years equivalent work experience.
- Technical expertise as a Salesforce developer.
- Competent and proficient understanding of business tools and platforms (working familiarity with SharePoint, Informatica, Tableau, and NetSuite a Plus).
- Extensive hands-on software troubleshooting experience.
- Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
- Expert communication and documentation skills .
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
- Committed to organizational mission of ending hunger.
- Salesforce Developer Certification(s).
- Familiarity with NGO Connect (NGOC).
- Experience with complex Salesforce implementations and integrations.
- Experience with Blackbaud/Convio Luminate Online .
- Understanding of nonprofit organizations.
