The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Mission Advancement Specialist supporting our Individual Giving team within the East Region!This individual will be responsible for managing administration, donor communication, and Customer Relationship Management database (Blackbaud) for the assigned development team. Responsible for maintaining professionalism and collegiality in support of the team, managing conflict free calendar and travel for the National Team Leader, processing invoices and expenses, and assisting donors and potential donors.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provide administrative support to a National Executive Lead and corresponding team which may include scheduling and processing travel and expenses, calendar and event participation, team meetings, professional development workshops or related planning and logistics
  • Acts as Blackbaud super user to develop and distribute pipeline movement and management updates. Audits data for accuracy and integrity for assigned region and serves as liaison to Mission Advancement prospect operations
  • Coordinates internal and external donor meetings with the highest level of professionalism and communication techniques
  • Conducts research on prospective donors and gathers information for Mission Advancement Advisors. Records donor plans and activity in Blackbaud CRM and provides reports as requested
  • Formats and prepares proposals, solicitation letters, reports, presentations, correspondence or face-to-face meeting support materials
  • Develops understanding and knowledge of AHA Mission and goals to effectively communicate with donors
  • Participates in Mission Advancement team projects and initiatives as requested
Educational Background: 
High school diploma or equivalent
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least two (2) years of work related experience
  • Experience providing administrative support for development teams in a nonprofit, hospital, research or academic institution
  • Experience working with high net worth donors
  • Ability to initiate support and collaborate with all levels of staff, prospects, volunteers and donors. Comprehensive ability to prepare written communications and orally present information to a variety of audiences or individuals
  • Ability to travel within respected territory
