Habitat Charlotte is searching for a self-motivated leader, with a strong work ethic and great attitude, to serve as their Director of Land Acquisition and Development. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a leading nonprofit organization in the field of affordable housing.

This position is responsible for directing all property acquisition and development while held accountable to the VP of Construction Operations for operational and strategic decisions made within the program. Manage overall land use program including property acquisition/sales, raw land development, and appropriately tracking properties.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Collaborate with the VP of Construction Operations to establish organizational structure and strategic direction for the land development team as production grows to serve more families. Coach, train, and develop staff in order to build leadership, encourage a culture of continual learning.
  • Oversee grant participation and compliance as it relates to land development. Work closely with the Director of New Construction to coordinate construction project locations and schedules to best utilize assets at hand.
  • Collaborate with Family Services to ensure that families are served through the lot selection process. Work with local builders and developers to leverage opportunities for partnership
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree.
Skills/Experience: 
  • The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of land development experience, a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • You must be able to work on construction sites, lift up to 75 lbs. unassisted, climb ladders/scaffolding, work on roofs, crawl spaces, and maneuver over uneven ground. 
  • ou must pass a drug test and a clean background check is required.
  • The following are preferred: a NC General Contractors License, Residential Subdivision Development and Federal Grant implementation experience, along with a Bachelor’s Degree.
