Under the direction of the VP of Marketing and Brand Strategy and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Association Marketing Director will be responsible for managing and leading the operations for the Association Marketing Department. This position will focus the efforts of Association’s Digital, Design, Merchandising and Traffic Management staff to support the Membership Experience, Program Experience and Impact Development teams in the design, execution and installation of integrated marketing and communication plans and campaigns that drive organizational growth.
Branch Relationship Management
- Act as a trusted advisor bringing value to branch business through a strong commitment to success, consistent performance and the ability to develop a wide range of ideas and solutions
- Acquire in-depth knowledge of the surrounding community for each branch and the key issues, competitive situation and industry trends
- Effectively balance the dual expectations of the branches and the Association
- Provide branches with team-generated ideas on improving their business
- Ascertain branches marketing communications objectives and needs and applying expertise and knowledge of competition and the industry
- Anticipate potential expectation issue, advising the VP on opportunities to proactively manage and connect with key branch or association leaders.
Staff and Project Leadership
- Outline expectations of, and coordinate and monitor the work of the Association Office Marketing staff members assigned to branch projects
- Effectively assign, delegate, coordinate and monitor the work of the Association Office Marketing staff members assigned to branch projects
- Establish rapport and trust with a range of staff members, identifying team and project needs, remaining open to considering multiple points-of-view
- Provide a model for project leadership by being prepared and proactive, thorough and accurate
- Accurately ascertain branch marketing communication needs and effectively communicating them to the creative, digital and other appropriate departments and/or staff leaders
Department Management
- Responsible for the development and management of departmental budget
- Establish clear objectives and day-to-day priorities for self and team
- Effectively plan and organize the work of the team, handling multiple projects efficiently, effectively and productively
- Manage production of materials thorough, accurate and consistent work to the branches that reflects the quality standards of the Association and YUSA
- Perform other special projects as assigned
- Prepare accurate and timely internal communications: creative briefs, media plan requests, timelines and estimates
- Minimum of 10 years of professional experience including supervision of full and part-time staff
- Experience managing multiple long and short-term projects
- Experience implementing or executing marketing strategies for a diverse client group
- Experience in, and knowledge of, major marketing disciplines including digital, email, website, graphic design and print production
- Successful experience developing and managing a budget
- Successful experience creating and managing short and long term goals for full and part time staff
- Ability to develop persuasive summary and recommendation documents for operational leaders
- Successful experience contributing to annual client planning sessions
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products suite and the ability to become proficient in Association-specific software applications
- Proven ability to manage competing demands and deal with demanding people
