To identify/develop new and deepen current sources for dairy through donation or purchase for the Feeding America network.   Working with industry association partners, build producer engagement while simultaneously creating demand within food bank/agency network for mutually beneficial programs ultimately benefiting families we serve by accessing more milk and other dairy products.

Contract: 1 Year
Location: WV, ME, VT, NH, PA, NY, NJ, CT, MD, VA, DE, RI, or OH

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Support national office objectives to access as much dairy (especially milk) as possible for our member food banks, agencies, and food insecure individuals.
  • Working with Dairy Industry partners analyze supply chain, utilizing insights to identify opportunities to access unsold product and reduce food waste
  • Working with FA team develop financial case study demonstrating benefit to producers including tax incentives; leverage for increased producer engagement.
  • Focusing on highest opportunity region, develop partnerships with farmers and producers, identify and overcome barriers to access more dairy
  • Work with FA Tax and Commodity Policy team to leverage current opportunities for support and collaborate on new policy options
  • Work with food bank sourcing/operations teams and Agency Management Staff/Agency teams to understand and overcome challenges to distributing more dairy products, especially fluid milk
  • Coordinate with Regional Produce Sourcing team as appropriate
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with all Feeding America national office as required and needed.
  • Create marketing and communication materials to present state/regional statistics, along with local statistics for individual food bank members.
  • Track and report on donations by current donors, return of lapsed donors, and prospects turned to donors.  Additionally, track donations by commodities and other KPI metrics as deemed pertinent.
Educational Background: 
Associates degree or equivalent experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5 years’ experience in Dairy industry – category management, procurement, and/or distribution preferred. 
  • Deep commodity knowledge; USDA understanding a plus. 
  • Supplier management preferred.
  • Food bank experience in food sourcing a benefit.
  • 40% regional travel required.
