Reporting to the Program Director, the Community Outreach Coordinator position supports the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association Greater East Ohio Area Chapter to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
The function of the Community Outreach Coordinator is to advance Care and Support through a comprehensive community engagement, education and outreach strategy as well as being responsible for the coordination of our support group programming
This is a fully benefited, at-will, grant-funded position. The grant is up for renewal each year with potential for longer employment.
This position is located at our Canton, Ohio office which requires travel to Belmont, Carroll, Coshocton, Guernsey, Harrison, Holmes, Jefferson, Muskingum, and Tuscarawas counties.
- Provides education programs and outreach to achieve strategic goals and objectives within Belmont, Carroll, Coshocton, Guernsey, Harrison, Holmes, Jefferson, Muskingum, and Tuscarawas counties.
- Identify strategic outreach opportunities in the community to further the reach of the Alzheimer’s Association, including general community settings and with healthcare providers.
- Establish proficiency in presenting all education curriculum.
- Monitor program sign in sheets and evaluations for team to ensure quality and satisfaction.
- Create program flyers and ensure website and calendars are up to date with program listings
- Work closely with staff and volunteers who may be doing data entry in these systems to ensure timeliness and accuracy.
- Ensure that documentation and statistical reports are in compliance with standards and submitted in a timely manner.
- Build community relations and awareness through networking and serving on external committees.
- Identify and form mutually beneficial partnerships with other organizations, physician offices and health systems.
- Establish and maintain collaborative working relationship with development staff team to ensure communication and coordination of overlap contacts/programs.
- Identify, recruit, train and support volunteers as community educators and support group facilitators who deliver core education and speaking programs.
- Establish proficiency in the Personify system and ensure programs, program attendees, support groups and support group attendees are entered in a timely manner.
- Three years of experience in program development, program presentation, management and staff supervision
- Able to prioritize, multitask, manage multiple priorities, and work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to work effectively with volunteers, staff and external contacts
- Strong organizational skills to plan, implement, and administer programs
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills that reflect an understanding of different learning modalities, group process, and cultural diversity
- Proficient user of personal computer, Microsoft software applications, Google suite required; familiarity with donor software systems preferred
- This position requires mostly same day travel throughout the chapter service area.
- Must possess valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and proof of valid automobile insurance
- Self-starter, able to work with little supervision; highly motivated, detail oriented
- Capable of taking a broad perspective as well as observing process & details
