The Community Development Coordinator will be responsible to generate revenue to reach financial goals to support the full mission of the organization, effectively building and maintaining sustainable relationships with corporate and individual financial supporters in the Mahoning Valley Region.  Reporting to the Director of Development, this position secures funding and manages the implementation of the Mahoning Valley Walks and the Paint the Night Purple fundraising.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Walk To End Alzheimer’s 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive development plan which includes budgets, timelines, team recruitment and retention strategies, volunteer development, kick-off events, marketing/PR and logistics for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
  • Meet revenue budget expectations with focus on increasing the revenue and registered participation of the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s
  • Research, identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward corporate funders to achieve current and ongoing revenue targets for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
  • Generate awareness for our cause, while opening new doors to sponsorship and team building opportunities
  • Work to develop a network of high level contacts for the Chapter, forming new corporate alliances and partnerships and building a pipeline for leadership of local events.
  • Increase corporate partnerships and community support that will help the Chapter to meet goals of strategic plan
  • Work with volunteer networks, prospect, cultivate and steward Walk To End Alzheimer’s teams, sponsors and walkers to reach financial goals.
  • Work closely with volunteer-driven, staff-supported fundraising efforts essential to increasing revenue and the overall number of those engaged in Association events.
  • Manage and coordinate the delivery of all sponsorship benefits, maintaining relationships year-round and ensuring involvement/recognition in other opportunities.
  • Partner with Corporate sponsors to develop and foster an understanding the value of their involvement with the Alzheimer’s Association
  • Oversee the logistical execution, overall coordination and strategic planning of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s event.  
  • Facilitate a well-managed mass market event to accomplish the mission of the organization

Paint the Night Purple

  • Recruit and Coordinate volunteer committee members for chapter Paint the Night Purple event.
  • Ensure volunteer representation from Mahoning Valley area while delegating tasks to committee members to ensure continued progress toward event goals
  • Solicit and secure sponsorships from Mahoning Valley corporate leaders with an emphasis on non-healthcare organizations
  • Increase corporate sponsorships support from new community prospects
  • Lead a team of volunteers to procure auction items and in-kind donations from individuals and local businesses.
  • Ensure Mahoning Valley business community is adequately represented in auction item offerings
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience required
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3-5 years of fundraising or sales experience
  • Highly organized, energetic, and able to multitask 
  • Ability to build relationships through effective communication, both orally and in writing
  • Experience in recruiting and working with volunteers
  • Advanced capability with MS Office and ability to quickly learn new software programs
  • Proficient user of personal computer, Microsoft software applications, Google suite required; familiarity with donor software systems preferred
  • Must possess valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and proof of valid automobile insurance; must be able to travel by car or other approved transportation for fundraising purposes 
  • Self-starter, able to work with little supervision; highly motivated, detail oriented
  • This position requires the ability to work daily (Monday - Friday) in a normal office environment.  Some evenings and weekends are required.
