To provide management, coordination and technical assistance to the Zambezi Valley Emergency Livelihoods Project, including design and capacity building of staff, coordination with area programs and government departments.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Design, plan, implement and coordinate the grant funded agricultural projects.
- Provide coordination with ADPs and district level government departments.
- Control and manage budgets for the grant funds and approve payments and requisitions and ensure that districts adhere to their operational budgetary limits
- Network with local authorities and ministries, other NGOs, Research Institutions and identify areas of possible linkages and collaboration and share lessons and good practices and in designing appropriate strategies for the target populations.
- Coordinate the activities of project field staff, including the drafting of detailed implementation plans, to ensure the timely and successful implementation of the Project.
- Provide field monitoring visits to districts and provide support to the teams
- Ensure the implementation, monitoring and evaluation as per project design and approved work plans.
- Ensure that documentation of key project events is done and publications circulated to relevant stakeholders
- Facilitate the training of field staff and farmers on sustainable agricultural practices relevant to the increased production of food for the target communities.
- Ensure that appropriate training materials are designed and produced for use in local community development work and informal education activities.
- Ensure the submission of regular, timely, and accurate progress reports regarding projects.
Educational Background:
Degree in Agriculture, Natural Resources, International Development or any related field
Skills/Experience:
- A Masters’ degree is an added advantage
- In depth knowledge in agronomy, crop production, livestock production and project management.
- An in-depth knowledge in extension management.
- In-depth knowledge on Gvt regulations in agriculture and operational systems.
- Experience in farmer to farmer extension.
- High networking skills
- Computer Literacy
- Clean class 4 Driver’s licence
- Ability to travel extensively across the Project’s 5 districts.
