FHI 360 seeks qualified candidates to fill the “IT Manager” position opened for its Office in Burundi. The “IT Manager” manages and coordinates a team of information technology staff to coordinate an area of responsibility such as; technology support, client services, asset management, installation of equipment, upgrades, project definition and delivery and routine support tasks. He/ She Serves as the first/second line of support for the end user on issues related to desktop computers, laptops, printers, servers, network connectivity and remote access. Simulates or recreates a process to resolve operating difficulties and may interact with network services, software systems engineering, and/or applications development to restore service and/or identify and correct core problems. He works with the US ISS Operations team and US ISS Infrastructure team to coordinate support, project delivery, upgrades and routine tasks.
The IT Manager will report to the Country Director.
- Day-to-day management of ISS organization processes, project planning, monitoring, developing metrics and recommending department enhancements and improvements.
- The IT manager is critical in ensuring that the expectations of all FHI 360 stake holders are met while working in conjunction with the other members of the ISS team.
- Manages staff and develops operational objectives and assignments to achieve department and organizational goals.
- Ensures integrity and availability of all technology resources through adherence to change control and configuration management processes and procedures.
- Ensures regular backups of servers, user files, and network shared files are performed.
- Performs software installations on company computers and configures applications as specified.
- Manages and collaborates with third party suppliers/vendors where appropriate and ensures that vendor performance and provision of services and quality is in line with FHI 360 expectations that enable FHI 360 to meet or exceed service levels.
- Responsible for the optimal operation of all office devices and end user computing environments hardware, peripherals, which directly support and help manage the end user computing environment.
- Identifies and promotes technical and operational “best practices”.
- Reviews and enforces FHI 360’s policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Helps recruit, hire, develops and oversees region and country IT Officers or vendors who provide information technical support to ensure a functioning and optimal end user computing experience in the country offices.
- Manages the optimal operation of all international client devices and end user computing environments hardware, peripherals, which directly support and help manage the end user computing environment.
- Handles escalation management for the Operations or other ISS teams.
- Delivers the ISS departmental strategies operationally in the US, Regional and Country offices.
- Provides leadership and management oversight, including agreeing priorities and monitors accomplishments and challenges within the subgroup.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Be a Burundian national or possess a Burundi’s valid work permit.
- Has 5-8 years of relevant information technology; computer installation, configuration and monitoring across the global enterprise.
- Solid project management experience.
- Articulate, professional and able t communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and staff.
- Must be able to read; write and speak fluent English and French.
- Prior work experience in a non- governmental organization (NGO).
- Demonstrated experience with managing and influencing resources in a matrix management environment.
- Excellent analytical and consultative/customer service.
- Able to use: Personal Computer, Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), e-mail, telephone, printer, calculator, copier, cell phones, PDAs and other hand-held devices.
