HOPE is seeking a skilled facilitator with a passion for teaching adults and with experience in the construction or industrial sectors in either an education or practitioner capacity. This position reports to the Bronx Program Director and is located at HOPE’s Bronx location at 1360 Garrison in Hunts Point.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Prep and deliver the Sustainable South Bronx program, a 12-week, green collar training program preparing up to 70 adult jobseekers across three classes for sustainable careers in construction and maintenance. *The number of students and classes may vary in consultation with the Work Readiness Instructor.
  • Work closely with the Bronx Program Director to map the training program’s learning objectives, create presentation materials and assessments, identify tools and inventory required for instruction, and aggregate useful resources for students in line with the HOPE-created curriculum outline.
  • Create, maintain, and execute a full training program schedule as well as weekly class schedule that integrates the following training components:
    • Hard skills, hands-on training related to fundamentals of construction, including hand and small power tool use, carpentry, basic plumbing and electrical, green infrastructure and other trades;
    • Soft skills, work readiness training, and appropriate attire, conduct and timeliness for work in the trades;
    • Industry-recognized certifications, such as OSHA 10 and 30, Flagger, Scaffolding, and EPA Lead Renovator;
    • Work-based learning through on-the-job training or service learning; and
    • Additional programming to increase student candidacy, such as digital literacy, financial literacy, work wellness, math, and basic needs, such as meals and transportation. *Certifications, work-based learning, and additional programming will be led or facilitated by external partners, as needed and appropriate.
Skills/Experience: 

A minimum of three years field experience in the construction or industrial sectors, in developing curriculum, and/or teaching adults or disadvantaged populations is the priority for the position. The position also requires a mission-oriented individual with strong organizational, teamwork, communications (both verbal and written), basic math, and digital literacy skills. Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. HOPE provides a full package of benefits including: healthcare and dental insurance; retirement plan; competitive vacation (plus ½ day Fridays during summer which is equal to 7.5 additional vacation days); personal and bonus days; and 12 paid holidays.
