Central Valley Habitat for Humanity is a vibrant, robust small affiliate serving Harrisonburg City and Rockingham County, Virginia and the towns within. For 30 years we have been provided a “decent place to live” for 60 families. We are growing and changing to meet the needs of our community. Our goal is to immediately begin providing four homes through the effective management of our houses and community resources. With the assistance of volunteers and select subcontractors, the Construction Manager is responsible for keeping these build projects efficient and on schedule.

The Construction Manager reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the Building and Site Committee.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • He/she is responsible for managing and teaching volunteers on the build site and monitoring and ensuring a safe work environment, staging materials at the jobsite, and communicating instructions to subcontractors and delivery personnel. Weekend work is required.
  • In addition, the Construction Manager is an ambassador to the community at large and should always be aware that his/her responsibilities extend beyond carrying out construction responsibilities. He/she must continually maintain and seek positive, productive relationships with vendors, subcontractors, volunteers and other stakeholders and sponsor organizations.
Educational Background: 
HS diploma or equivalent required, with significant residential construction supervisory experience. BA/BS preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Class B or C license required; Class A license preferred
  • Desire and ability to motivate and teach construction skills to people with a variety of personalities, ages, and backgrounds
  • Knowledge of residential construction, jobsite safety, building codes, tools, trailer operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
  • Ability to stay positive, focused, and task oriented while leading the volunteer experience for groups of people on the construction jobsite.
