Development Manager

The Development manager has primary responsibility for revising and implementing a comprehensive fundraising plan for a high-functioning, faith-based organization with a budget of approximately $million. The plan, which must incorporate the organization's mission and vision, must address increasing the individual, membership, and corporate donor base(s), as well as public and private grant opportunities. The person in this role will also oversee the marketing and communications strategies that pertain to development  activities and as well as fundraising event planning and implementation.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Works closely with the Executive Director, Development Committee, and the Board of Directors to coordinate fundraising activities;

Expands the organization's donor base of individual, corporate, and business donors at all giving levels to attain annual goals;

Coordinates donor recognition and stewardship;

Sends thank you acknowledgement letters to all donors;

Manages all gifts in Salesforce database fundraising software and oversees database entry from volunteers; should also be able to run reports in Salesforce.

Manage membership including tracking membership, creating membership cards, cultivating members and thanking them;

Develops tailored cultivation and solicitation strategies for increased outreach to current and prospective donors.

Oversees and manages the annual gala event, including managing a Gala Committee and all aspects of the event: invitations, sponsorships, seating, the night of responsibilities, etc.;

Oversees the preparation of grant applications and grant reports to various public and private resources.  Acting as a resource to program staff involved in funding applications, writing grants, and assisting in the submission of new funding requests and re-funding efforts;

Develops and monitors an annual appeal to market the organization and/or its programs;

Develops public relations material for meetings with donors, members, fundraising activities and events; this includes working with a photographer to secure current photos of BMA's programs and services with updated information on success stories, outcome measures, ets.;

Establishes and implements an annual calendar of fundraising activities;

In partnership with graphic designer, develops and coordinates the production of print and electronic materials including annual reports, brochures, postcards, newsletters, etc.;

Develops online donation appeals and manages online donations for various programs and the organization: and 

Markets programs and other information to donors via social media including Constant Contact eBlasts, Facebook updates, and updating our website using WordPress.

 

Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree and at least five years of successful fundraising experience.
Skills/Experience: 

He or she must have outstanding oral and written communication skills, as well as excellent presentation and interpersonal skills. The position requires a highly organized, detail oriented, self-starter who is able to meet deadlines. the successful candidate must also posses the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong computer skills are required, especially in such applications as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Salesforce (or an equivalent). The incumbent must be flexible and able to work independently, as well as part of a high-functioning team.  The successful candidate must have a demonstrated commitment to improving inner city communities. Graphic design skills are a plus for this position.

Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary $48K - $60K

Subsidized Health and dental plans.
