Contributes to the achievement of strategic priorities by providing support for state and community operations, and by providing technical assistance to staff and volunteers. Manages projects, creates project-related materials, and determines resources necessary to complete projects. May perform a combination of the following duties described below depending upon assignment.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Works directly with volunteers and staff to ensure implementation of AARP activities in the state. May assist in coordination of educational activities and the delivery of volunteer recruitment and training.
- Works with outreach staff on effective and innovative strategies to produce activities and events, including special events such as forums, volunteer engagement meetings, educational workshops, and more.
- Coordinates materials and packets for community outreach events and helps manage online event management system.
- Creates flyers, direct mail, training materials, and other resource materials to support AARP activities, including events aimed at member volunteer engagement across the state.
- Helps manage events calendar on our website via event management tool.
- Helps with all event planning logistics.
- Helps manage fulfillment requests and storage of AARP publications.
- Demonstrates WORLD CLASS cultural attributes and behaviors in all interactions.
- Helps represent AARP out in the community, at AARP events and community events.
- Helps to shape and support partnerships and collaborations and seeks out new local member opportunities.
Educational Background:
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
Skills/Experience:
- 3+ of experience in project development, coordination, and implementation techniques; or an equivalent combination of training and experience related to the duties of the position. Demonstrated ability to communicate well both written and orally.
- Working knowledge of social media platforms, especially Facebook and Twitter
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others, lead project teams, task forces, and to collaborate with and forge effective internal and external partnerships across groups and departments, connecting with and exhibiting a solid understanding of partnerships.
- Interest in issues affecting the lives of people 50+, including housing, financial security, guardianship, caregiving, health care, safe driving, and more
- Travel may be required.
