POSITION: Development Operations & Database Manager

REPORTS TO: Director of Individual Giving

START DATE: Immediately

DURATION: Full-Time

LOCATION: Boston’s Seaport District

The Development Operations & Database Manager (DODM) is responsible for the implementation, management, policies, training, allocation, reconciliation and daily gift entry and acknowledgements for the Development database and fundraising software systems. DODM also oversees the primary operations of the development department including training staff, and overseeing and adhering to multiple internal deadlines.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Informing Development Staff and Senior Staff of gifts received and entering gifts daily
  • Producing donor acknowledgements, including acquiring appropriate signatures and notes that need to be included, in a timely manner
  • Correctly allocating Development gift designation and serving as direct liaison to Finance Department
  • Manage importing and exporting of data in Raiser’s Edge
  • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports for department, Senior staff, and Board committees
  • Manage all data policies, including recommending and implementing needed changes to stay abreast of best practices and industry standards
  • Training Development, Senior staff and Executive Assistant on correct use of Raiser’s Edge and monitoring all data entry to ensure policies are met
  • Generate all lists needed for Development, communications, and organization projects based on specific criteria
  • Proper implementation and use of database to support a growing recurring gifts initiative
  • Research, add, update and extract from database organizational contacts for CEO, EVP, VP of Development and VPE
  • Create, produce, and update donor and staff solicitor task sheets during key Development fundraising periods
  • Determine, track, order, and send major donor benefits
  • Print, assemble and mail Development grant proposals in a professional and timely manner  
  • Organize and maintain department files, both electronic and paper
  • Manage implementation and support all software used by Development Department, including online giving, peer-to-peer fundraising, auction, and event registration systems
  • Produce attendance and follow-up lists, nametags, and oversee registration and donation transactions at all Development events (i.e.) Annual Gala, ISLE Society and 4k Trail Run
  • Interface with donors to ensure efficient and accurate gift processing
  • Additional tasks as assigned by the DIG
Skills/Experience: 
  • Excellent Raisers Edge skills including Events Module, Online Express, and Crystal Reports – 3+ years experience required
  • Experience with GreaterGiving auction and EveryDayHero Peer-to-Peer software preferred
  • Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Flexibility - proven ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Positive customer service oriented attitude in donor interaction
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, and meet all deadlines
  • Enthusiastic attitude about building and participating in positive workplace culture

Established in 1988, Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center is an independent Massachusetts not-for-profit organization whose mission is to provide adventurous and challenging experiential learning programs that inspire character development, compassion, community service, environmental responsibility, and academic achievement. We serve over 6,500 early adolescents annually from all economic and social communities of greater metropolitan Boston, and the institutions and adults who support them.
