Blue Ridge Habitat for Humanity’s Board of Directors is seeking a new Executive Director to continue the growth of the organization. We are looking for a proven change agent and adaptive leader with the ability to collaboratively assess organizational programming and performance and devise informed, sustainable advancements. The ability to create a supportive relationship among multiple stakeholders to affect increased affordable housing solutions is essential; experience with advancing an affordable housing mission is a plus. The candidate should thrive in an atmosphere of change and be adept at leadership and organizational transformation.

The Executive Director provides overall executive leadership of the affiliate in accordance with the direction, policies, and objectives set by the Board. Work is performed under the general direction of the Habitat Board of Directors through the President of the Board and Executive Committee.

Blue Ridge Habitat for Humanity currently has an annual operating budget of over $2 million and maintains assets of over $3.5 million.

Lines of business include residential construction, mortgage lending, rental management, family and social services, community development, and retail store management. Responsibilities include resource development, supervision and mentoring of paid staff, maintaining and enhancing the infrastructure of the affiliate, serving as the primary communication link among directors, committees, and volunteers, networks with stakeholders in the community, and ensures that the whole organization runs smoothly and achieves the mission of the affiliate.

Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree required; BA or BS in business, public administration, or non-profit management preferred. Master’s degree preferred but not required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • A minimum of five (5) years of related experience required, with a minimum of one (1) year of executive-level experience recommended.
  • Must demonstrate an independent and collaborative ability towards organizational management and program development.
  • Must possess working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Major gift cultivation is a plus.
