The agency is relocating. We have acquired initial capital needs and need to raise substantial funds to purchase and rehab or build a new facility.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Development Director’s duties include but are not limited to the following.

 

Create strategic development framework to facilitate agency goals.

  • Be responsible for setting and achieving annual development goals in collaboration with the Executive Director, service directors and other staff members as necessary.
  • Effectively identify opportunities for grant funding.
  • Collaborate with Directors of Roof and Nest to ensure the agency and its needs are represented accurately and effectively.
  • In collaboration with Executive Director, write annual budget for the development office. 
  • Create a variety of compelling opportunities for community members to contribute to our annual campaign. 

 

Jointly with Executive Director, lead agency capital campaign. 

  • Create strategic plan for capital campaign.
  • With the support of development team, create capital campaign materials.
  • Lead in the implementation of capital campaign plans.
  • Work collaboratively with consultants and other outside professionals as necessary.

 

Oversee development work for the agency.

  • Recruit, train, and supervise members of the development team.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers for the development team.
  • Oversee scheduling and work product for members of the development team. 
  • Be responsible for the working with consultants and outside contractors.
  • Hold regular development team meetings as necessary and be responsible for hearing and communicating staff ideas and concerns.
  • In collaboration with administrative staff, track budgetary spending to ensure appropriate use of funds. 
  • Develop and periodically review development policies and procedures, including gift acceptance policy. 
  • Develop and maintain a system for accurately tracking donor interactions that is in line with legal requirements and industry best practice. 
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and industry best practice regarding gift acknowledgement and stewardship.

 

Effectively engage the community in support of agency mission.

  • Craft agency messaging and serve as central coordinator for all agency external communications. 
  • Coordinate community engagement efforts including scheduling tours and oversight of speaker's bureau.
  • Serve as primary liaison for agency donors and prospective donors.
  • As needed, represent the agency publically with professionalism.         
  • In collaboration with other directors, oversee volunteer recruitment and retention efforts. 

 

Work collaboratively with board of directors and other team members.

  • Co-chair board committees as necessary.
  • Oversee board and committee event planning. 
  • Attend regular leadership team meetings as necessary.
  • Attend agency advisory board meetings and committee meetings as necessary.
  • Provide timely reports to: Executive director, Director of Roof, Director of Nest, and Agency Board Members as requested.
  • In collaboration with other members of the leadership team, ensure compliance with regulations of all partner agencies.

Educational Background: 
Bachelors Degree (Non profit management or related field)
Skills/Experience: 

He or she will possess exceptional written and verbal communication as well as the ability to work well both independently and collaboratively.  Preference will be given to candidates with experience using Bloomerang donor management software and some design software.  Working knowledge of the MS office suite is required. We prefer up to five years of fundraising experience.

We serve intact homeless families. We provide housing, casework, and a federally certified daycare so as to create sustainable employment and housing for our clients.

Programs: 

We provide both prevention services and a homeless shelter. We can prevent homelessness if we become aware of eviction proceedings. Many times temporary rent support and sound casework will avoid the trauma of parents and children on the street. If our clients become homeless we have excellent caseworkers who coordinate services with with other agencies regarding: employment, social service, skill development etc. Our success rate is nearly 90% in clients achieving employment and sustainable housing. Our day care center has the highest possible federal certification. Only 6% of daycare facilities in Indiana have this designation. We are passionate about preparing our children for public education.
