The Organization
Redemptive Cycles was founded in 2013 with the mission of fulfilling the transportation needs of low-income and homeless individuals residing in Birmingham, Alabama.
At Redemptive Cycles, we believe that transportation equity is social equity. We believe that getting more people on bikes makes Birmingham a more well-connected, vibrant and livable city. We know from experience that when a low-income or homeless community member takes ownership of a bike that they have a greater opportunity to scale socioeconomic barriers. It is our privilege to serve Birmingham through our not for profit efforts via programs such as Earn- A-Bike, Sliding Scale Repairs, maintenance classes, and others. We are a 501(c)3 organization - EIN 46-3471015.
We further operate a retail store selling new and used bikes, performing repairs, and selling parts and accessories. All retail revenue supports our organization overhead. The retail store is open 40 hours per week.
Executive Director
We are looking for a multi-talented and nimble Executive Director whose primary focus is to represent, manage, and fundraise for the organization.
Principal Responsibilities
Management
The organization is seeking a servant leader who is both passionate about the mission and is willing to serve alongside staff and volunteers.
The future ED would be responsible for managing three full time direct report employees who, together, are responsible for day to day operations of the bike shop.
Fundraising
The ideal candidate would have experience in donor & corporate relations as well as grant writing.
The organization also hosts two major events per year, seven smaller bimonthly events and a weekly community bicycle ride.
The shop accounts for a portion of our revenue stream. Donations contribute to the balance of our $305,000 of revenue with $210,000 after COGS.
We see an opportunity to dramatically increase donations and fundraising efforts and hope to find the right individual to help us do so.
