The YMCA of Broome County has an exciting new opportunity for a self-starting and motivated individual for our Fund Development Coordinator.

The Fund Development Coordinator will be responsible for working with the CEO, Board of Directors and senior management to plan and coordinate all aspects of fund development for the YMCA of Broome County.

This position will provide direct oversight on all fundraising initiatives including major gifts, planned giving, sponsorships, donor cultivation and grant administration and writing. The Fund Development Coordinator will identify, organize and manage the fundraising activities with a focus on new opportunities to obtain ongoing and increased support from corporations, public and private organizations, faith communities and individuals.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Planning:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive written annual resource development plan with strategies for donors and prospects in each constituent group including: individuals, organizations, corporations etc. to be approved by the CEO.
  • Broaden the YMCA of Broome County’s fundraising by developing approaches such as planned giving, solicitation of bequests and endowment programs.

Grant Administration:

  • Research and write grants for the association.
  • Provide timely reporting and ensure compliance as required by grant award documentation.
  • Manage the timely writing of grants by all Directors of the YMCA of Broome County.

Gifts Cultivations:

  • Create and implement strategies for donor development and cultivation which will provide a diverse and sustainable funding base for the YMCA of Broome County.
  • Keep up-to-date on current fundraising programs, practices and procedures used in the nonprofit sector.
  • Create and implement major gifts program, planned giving program and volunteer giving program.
  • Identify and pursue new sources of corporate and foundation funding.
  • Build and maintain relationships with major donors of all types, develop strategies for solicitation and solicit.
  • Create and update materials to support gift cultivation.
  • Develop and implement all aspects of direct donor mailings and other donor mailings as needed.
  • Ensure that the donor database information is current and accurate.

Volunteer Administration:

  • Develop and implements recruitment plans in the community through group contracts, media and individual contracts; prepares recruitment materials.
  • Assess the need for volunteers within the YMCA by communicating with Directors from all departments.
  • Recruit, interview and select volunteers to be assigned to different departments or events.
  • Communicate with Directors from all departments to assign volunteers to specific departments.
Educational Background: 
B.A./B.S. preferred with an emphasis or concentration in business, marketing, public relations, etc.
Skills/Experience: 

The following are the requirements for this role:

  • Minimum of 3 years professional development and fundraising experience
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, is self-motivated and confident
  • Ability to inspire, train, motivate, challenge and supervise volunteers
  • Confident public speaking and able to express ideas verbally and in writing
  • Proven success in fund development
  • Proven ability to cultivate relationships
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $40,000.00
