The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation - the world's leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis, and one of the most innovative and successful organizations of its kind - is seeking a Director of Fundraising and Development. This is a National – remote based position, and candidates are being considered who live either in the Southwest, Southeast or Mid-Atlantic regions.
We are a nonprofit, donor-supported organization that has raised and invested hundreds of millions of dollars to help develop cystic fibrosis therapies that have changed the lives of people with this disease. Nearly every CF medicine available today was made possible because of Foundation support.
This position works with Field Directors and Chapter staff to develop and implement both short-term and long-term strategies to achieve financial success in GREAT STRIDES. This person is responsible for a significant budget line
- Works with chapter staff to develop fund-raising strategies and coaches staff to achieve goals (via conference call and in-person)
- Consults with Field Directors and chapter staff to analyze performance and assists with developing strategies to help chapters meet and/or exceed their event budget.
- Analyzes data (national, regional, market-size) looking for trends and opportunities and assists with the development of new fundraising opportunities
- Works with fundraising team to develop and take lead on national trainings/webinars, plays a role in developing Volunteer Leadership Conference, and works collectively as a team to develop national program tools and templates
- Participates and plays a lead role in National Great Strides Field Advisory Group, and works collectively as a team to implement outcomes from Field Advisory Group meetings/develops recommended strategies for Field
- Working with chapter staff, identifies, initiates and manages regional and national partnerships
- Works with Field Director on staffing patterns/issues influencing change as necessary
- Must have local special event peer-to-peer fund-raising experience showing new development and progressive success in events; 5-7 years fund-raising experience preferred
- Must have great understanding of committee/volunteer development—and working with volunteers to achieve financial success
- Must be able to translate that experience when coaching others to achieve successful events
- Must be able to model appropriate techniques/behavior during chapter visits and calls
- Strong analytical ability—to quickly understand a situation from a distance and be able to come up with solutions/ways to improve; strong problem-solving
- Strong analytical ability—data analysis and more global review of program
- Must have an interest and ability in mentoring others to help them achieve their true potential
- Ability to teach/train preferred
- Experience speaking and motivating
- Some experience developing materials preferred
