The Digital Development Technical Advisor, Asia-Pacific is responsible for providing technical advisory support to FHI 360 programs in the Asia-Pacific region on the effective and appropriate use of digital technologies in existing and future projects. This position will also help to position FHI 360 as a thought leader in the digital development space in the region by organizing and facilitating events related to digital development, and through the publication of thought pieces, such as blogs. The individual will serve as a point person for the Digital Development Department in Asia, working closely with HQ staff to ensure consistent guidance to FHI 360 programs and country office teams in the region through regular contact with all relevant parties. The individual will also represent FHI 360 at events and meetings in order to help build FHI 360’s pool of potential technology partners in the region.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • With technical oversight, provide technical leadership in design, development, planning, implementation; and capacity building of digital technology related technical components of existing and anticipated programs.
  • Maintains a constructive dialogue and technical exchange with field counterparts and technical staff within FHI 360 county offices in Asia-Pacific, the Asia-Pacific Regional Office, and HQ.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with potential technology partners, donor/client organizations, relevant government agencies, bilateral and other NGOs.
  • Develops and contributes to the development of tools to support the design and implementation of specific digital development components within FHI 360’s programs.
  • Ensures that technical support provided adheres to the Digital Development Department’s global strategy and remains technically sound.
  • Provides technical inputs and review of proposed usage of digital technology in proposal development.
  • Organizes and facilitates technology related events in the region, including, but not limited to, Technology Salons.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Coordinates own work flow and sets individual priorities.
  • Works under general guidelines for completion and accuracy as determined by the supervisor.
  • Has dotted line reporting to the APRO Regional Director, in additional to formal reporting line through the Digital Development Department
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • Ensures appropriate and timely technical support to field programs.
  • Ensures the quality of implemented technical activities and systems at all levels.
  • Strong knowledge and skills in digital development and general understanding of concepts and principles of related technical areas/functions.
  • Ability to manage own work to job and performance standards.
  • Demonstrates ability to assess needs within agreed upon duties and considers course of action best to meet those needs.
  • Effectively applies knowledge of technical area to solve range of problems.
  • Demonstrates ability to develop solutions to problems that cannot be solved using existing methods or approaches.
  • At least 5-8 years of relevant experience in digital development, including strategy development, capacity building, and technical advisory services.
  • Regional experience within Asia, particularly South and Southeast Asia is highly preferred
  • Has ability to manage and prioritize multiple requests for support, set realistic priorities, and plan for the successful implementation of activities.
  • Proficient writing and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Relevant computer software skills (including, at a minimum, the standard applications in MS Office).
  • Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English; fluency in additional Asian languages highly preferred.
