Reporting to the Database Manager, will (1) develop data collection architecture and relational management systems across FHI 360 and donor reporting systems and indicators; (2) develop and implement procedures for effective data collection, management, access, and analyses; (3) regularly evaluate information and data systems to enhance analytical results; and (4) ensure generation and access to robust program analytic datasets for interpretation and response.
The Database Manager will investigate, create and develops new data management methods and technologies for projects in the Asia Pacific region advancement and optimization. S/he will provide technical guidance on information systems for quality improvement, as well as best practices in documentation and reporting. This may include system administration, troubleshooting, analysis, testing, research, training, general problem solving, technical support, and testing/deployment of new systems and databases; designing and implementing back-up, recovery, archiving, conversion strategies, and performance tuning; and developing database standards, policies and procedures.
The position shall be based in Bangkok, Thailand.
- Analyze program data management requirements and define system specifications.
- Maintain/build relational database schemas, tables, views, data dictionaries, and stored procedures as required by various health and nutrition program areas.
- Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet program performance monitoring and evaluation expectations.
- Manage database access, security, integrity and backup procedures.
- Include database technology evaluation, guidance and consultation, design support, task automation and scripting, best practice and standards development, capacity planning, optimization and tuning, system upgrades and migrations, performance management, monitoring, security, backup and recovery, issue troubleshooting, and documentation.
- Create ad-hoc and standard reports as required.
- Setup and Design of backup and recovery solutions, according to Disaster Recovery scenarios, Plan and Document specifications.
- Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- At least three (3) years of relevant work experience in database design and management. Relational Database Management experience in the past.
- Working knowledge of Data Warehousing and extract, transform, and load (ETL) concepts, standards and best practices.
- Ability to write SQL queries and validate query results.
- Proficiency in data management and analytic software e.g. SQL, MS Excel, MS Power BI, Tableau, R.
- Excellent technical expertise in relevant state of the art data technologies, database warehouse data security, data systems, and its design. Able to formulate and present various solutions for business initiatives and discuss pros/cons for each option.
- Cloud Database management experience Data warehouse or Data analytics preferred.
- Knowledge of best practices in data visualization and business intelligence (BI) - Strong understanding of BI features and capabilities and how that is implemented for business solutions preferred.
- Should be self-driven with strong analytical, organizational and project management skills.
- Must have exceptional writing, communications and presentation skills, strong teamwork and effective cross-cultural interpersonal skills.
- Position requires fluency in Thai and English.
