JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Position : (01) Technical Coordinator for Eco-Agriculture in the Sahel Project

Reports to: Special Projects Manager

Location: Bamako

Purpose of the position:

The overall role of the secretariat is providing Liaison & coordination for the Eco-Agriculture/FMNR movement in terms of engaging and networking with strategic stakeholders, advocacy, representation, Organisational Capacity Building, and Action learning over the 3 countries World Vision Mali, Groundswell Burkina and Ghana. The secretariat will ensure quality assurance, reporting and documentation in alignment with the project design time line, format and all requirements from World Vision US and Margaret A. Cargill Foundation

Major Responsibilities:

Ensure Liaison to FMNR and NRM actors in the Sahel through the 3 countries (Ghana, Mali, Burkina Faso)

Support and coordinate the documentation of lessons learned and best practices from the Eco-Agriculture in the Sahel Program country projects and share through internal and external knowledge sharing forums

Facilitate and support the creation and distribution of training materials in collaboration with country partners in Mali, Burkina Faso and Ghana

In coordination with FMNR/RNA managers, develop and maintain pro-active relationships with Local government and other agencies for FMNR/RGNA movement.

In collaboration with country program managers’ facilitate innovative technologies, strategies and intervention with national and international institutes to ensure inovatives research technologies are integrated within national offices FMNR/RGNA intervention .

Support in the development of new projects on FMNR/RNA resilience, mapping of resource needs and support fundraising initiatives.

Provide support in funding negotiations with support offices and other donors in coordination with national offices

In collaboration with Mali, Burkina and Ghana,

In collaboration with Field Program Managers in Ghana, Mali, and Burkina represent Eco-Agriculture in the Sahel Program with key external stakeholders at regional and international levels including high-level senior officials meetings, relevant Re-greening/Climate Smart Agriculture/Evergreen Agriculture Partnership

Initiate national level advocacy for policies favorable to spread of FMNR. Reach government decision makers, academic institutions and implementing Departments on the seriousness of the soil degradation, deforestation, food and nutrition insecurity problems; raise awareness on the efficacy and benefits of FMNR and complementary agro-ecological technology and the need for urgent action

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

  • A degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness Management, or any other related discipline. Masters and in above is highly preferred.

  • At least 5years experience in designing, planning, implementing, supervising and reporting on integrated Livelihoods and/or resilience projects on environmental area

  • Must have both an extensive conceptual understanding of and demonstrated practical command for implementing program design, management and evaluation principals

  • Must also have solid public relations skills and be a strong team player

  • This position requires someone with good interpersonal and networking skills

  • Demonstrated success at developing strategic plans, partnerships and effective networks in the development and agricultural sectors.

  • Good command of English and French

Environment / Conditions:

  • Work environment: Office-based with frequent travel to the field

  • Travel: 10% Domestic/international travel is required.

  • On call: 5%
