Urban Alliance (UA), a national youth workforce development nonprofit, is currently seeking a Summer Program Coordinator in partnership with Baltimore’s Promise and Grads2Careers to facilitate the Baltimore Land Surveyor summer program. The position is from March 23rd-August 14th. The Summer Program Coordinator will support all aspects of the Land Surveyor summer internship program, including interviewing and selecting applicants and supporting selected participants in their professional development through internships with companies and organizations. This position is located in Baltimore, MD

Since its founding in Washington, DC in 1996, Urban Alliance has expanded to Baltimore, Chicago, Northern Virginia, and Detroit. To date, Urban Alliance has placed more than 4,000 students in paid internships and served more than 18,000 youth through job skills training.

Applicants for the Summer Program Coordinator position must be available to work from March 23rd-August 14th. The position will work 20 hours a week at $24.00 an hour.

 

Areas of Responsibility: 

Summer Program Coordinator Responsibilities

Intern support: Review intern applications and resumes; Organize and facilitate applicant interviews; Assist UA and Land Surveyor program with intern selection; Monitor the performance and professional growth of Land Surveyor Interns. Formally evaluate intern job performance and skill development; Troubleshoot and mediate job-site conflicts.

Facilitation: Facilitate two weeks of professional development workshops for 25 hours a week before internship placement and weekly workshops throughout the eight-week program.

External relationship management – Build and maintain relationships with students, mentors, and staff for the Land Surveyors Internship Program.

Data management – Track, analyze, and report program and intern data; Actively use outcome data to guide program decisions for real-time course corrections

 

Qualifications

·        At minimum a Bachelor's Degree

·        Facilitation and/or teaching experience with high school or college students

·        Experience working in youth development

·        Experience working with community organizations and schools in under-resourced areas

·        Excellent oral and written communication skills (including mediation skills)

·        Ability to present oneself professionally and maintain professional working relationships with youth and external partners

·        Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint

·        Flexible and capable of adapting to change

·        Excellent judgment and sound decision-making skills

Educational Background: 
4 year degree
Compensation/Benefits: 

Hourly rate of pay is $24.00.
