The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Community Impact Director- Schools in our Baltimore, MD office.

The Community Impact Director will be responsible for cultivating and expanding the AHA’s relationship with all districts/school systems within the assigned market (Anne Arundel County, Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Carroll County, Hartford County and Howard County).

Major Duties:

  • Cultivate and expand relationships with local district leaders including superintendents, school nutrition directors, HR and/or employee wellness leaders, and others as appropriate.
  • Develop and pilot engagement opportunities for middle and high school students and staff such as volunteer STEM activities.
  • Maximize all revenue and health opportunities by recruiting and managing Internal Leadership teams in the 5 school districts.
  • Secure new revenue via employee District Heart Challenge, middle/high school STEM activities, sponsorship, foundation, and grant opportunities among AHA Youth Market schools.
  • Foster increased volunteer engagement and participant activation by facilitating relationships between AHA event leads and district leadership.
  • Engage and support district in Workplace Health issues and opportunities.
  • Work with districts to assess and address workplace health including completion of workplace health achievement index and connecting to resources such as Check Change Control and/or pilot workplace health improvement strategies.
  • Promote health and well-being among students and staff within local school districts. Support school health improvement by forming a relationship with and serving on school district wellness councils.
  • Build and manage a local superintendents’ round-table.
  • Facilitates the identification, recruitment and selection of appropriate volunteers to lead the board and committee activities required to drive results in achieving the mission and strategic objectives of AHA

Required Experience

  • BA or BS degree or equivalent experience preferably in Marketing, Communications, Public Health, Health Education, or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years’ work experience, preferably in healthcare, or with a voluntary health agency or related field
