AARP GA is seeking a paid, undergraduate or grad-level intern 20-25 hours per week to assist with building and strengthening our efforts in Augusta & Savannah GA. This is a tremendous opportunity to gain firsthand experience with events planning; volunteer engagement; building a knowledge base of AARP programs; project management and strengthening facilitation and communication skills. This position will report to the Associate State Director of Community Outreach and have some interactions with other Georgia State Office staff and volunteers.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Work with Associate State Director with organizing volunteer & community engagement in Augusta and Savannah GA by:
  • Attend monthly Volunteer and Volunteer Team Assist meetings
  • Assist with event planning and implementation
  • Assist ASD and volunteers with launch and development of local advocacy campaign in Augusta, GA
  • Assist ASD and volunteer with collecting and documenting Livable Communities progress report
  • Assist ASD, volunteers, and Director of Communications with documenting and sharing content through volunteer newsletter and social media
  • Assist with outreach and other duties as identified
Educational Background: 
Interns must be currently enrolled in a degreed program at an accredited college or university; maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0; and be considered rising undergraduate juniors or seniors.   
Skills/Experience: 
  • Candidate must possess exceptional organizational skills, be a self-starter, work independently,  and have the ability to problem solve and multi-task.  Proficiency in Microsoft office required, events planning experience desired.
