Reporting to the GM International Partnerships, you will provide effective management, coaching and support for WVNZ's Pacific Team that oversee WVNZ's international programming in the Pacific and provide expertise in grant acquisition, monitoring and reporting to the International Partnerships Department.

The role also involves active participation in the International Partnerships leadership team to identify ways to improve the IP team's effectiveness at meeting the needs of field partners and WVNZ teams engaging Kiwi supporters, while ensuring programme effectiveness and good stewardship. The ultimate goal is to transform the lives of both children and Kiwi supporters.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key government representatives in MFAT.
  • Co-ordinate MFAT grants acquisition & provide overall expertise in grants acquisition management across IP teams.
  • Track annual income and expenditure.
  • Coordinate WVNZs engagement with Pacific Timor Leste (PTL) & contribute to the development of PTL strategy and operational plans.
  • Coordinate WVNZ response to any emergency in Pacific.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor or masters level degree in a relevant discipline - e.g. development studies, human rights, social sciences, etc.
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least 5 years' experience in the design and management of development and/or emergency projects/programmes (with excellent project management skills using current methodologies) with at least 1 year of overseas experience.
  • Significant experience in managing a country and regional portfolio managing grant-funded projects - including the acquisition, writing of proposals and management of complex grants within the international development sector, project/programme design and monitoring of programme quality, and (preferably) making funding decisions in a donor organisation.
  • Strong relationship management skills with the ability to influence and negotiate with a variety of stakeholders, including child sponsors, institutional donors, private and government donors and World Vision field offices. Includes experience in providing support to both Marketing and Engagement teams within World Vision NZ and World Vision Field offices.
  • Experience in financial management, including the preparation and analysis of budgets and financial reports both operational and project.
  • Proven strategic thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to develop and align strategies and policies with an organisation's strategic direction and needs.
  • Excellent leadership, public speaking, networking, negotiation and communications skills.
  • Experience in negotiating and managing partnerships for development outcomes.
  • Experience in working with MFAT, with existing knowledge, relationships and linkages with MFAT.
  • Current passport, and willingness to travel up to 30% of the time to complete monitoring field visits.
  • Demonstrated understanding of development process and theory.
  • Cross-cultural competence, ideally Pacific cultural competence and linkages.
  • An understanding and affinity with World Vision NZ's mission and core values.
