The Georgia Dental Association (GDA) is seeking a Managing Director of Foundation Affairs to provide leadership and direction for the GDA Foundation’s operations. The GDA Foundation for Oral Health is an affiliate of the Georgia Dental Association, a 150-year-old organization with more than 3,500 members. Our mission is to help our member dentists succeed. Areas of Responsibility: 

The Managing Director of Foundation Affairs would be responsible for Foundation fundraising, marketing, communications, board relations, program development, event planning and staff supervision. The person in this position would serve as the primary contact to donors, philanthropists and community leaders, and to other foundations. The Managing Director would be accountable to grow the donor base in order to build corpus (sustainability) while funding the Foundation’s charitable outreach programs.

The role requires an efficient and resourceful individual with excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. The ideal candidate would be knowledgeable about planned giving, peer to peer fundraising and unique funding/giving strategies. The candidate must have prior experience in charitable fundraising as well as a Bachelor’s degree. Prior experience with a foundation in a similar position is a plus.

This position reports to the Executive Director/CEO of GDA and initially will have other responsibilities within the association in addition to work with the foundation.

Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree required
3+ years' experience in charitable fundraising required
Foundation experience in a similar role is a plus
Skills/Experience: 
  • Able to move programs/projects along efficiently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Organized self-starter who is able to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload
  • Interacts professionally with internal staff, external volunteer leadership, donors, community leaders and leadership of other foundations
  • Able to develop and manage annual department budget
  • Strong writing skills with an ability to prepare clear, concise reports and documents
  • Demonstrates attention to detail, flexibility and independence
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
