Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is currently seeking a talented professional for the role of a Vice President - Global Foundation and Institutional Relations. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Development, and serving as a member of the Resource Development Management Group, the Vice President will work with the SVP and other members of HFHI’s global leadership team to cultivate, solicit and steward funding from foundation and institutional (FOI) donors to support Habitat’s strategic plan and priority programmatic efforts and country initiatives.

In an effort to realize the intent of the organization’s transformational strategic plan, the position will lead an effort to globalize what is currently a decentralized team of seven (7) FOI fundraisers working across Habitat’s US headquarters and regional offices (LAC, EMEA and AP). 

He/she will develop and implement a scaling fundraising strategy that builds upon the foundational infrastructure to create a high-performing development team that grows annual revenues from $6 million to $30 million over the next 4 years.

This position requires strong and thoughtful leadership through influencing strategies across multiple constituent and stakeholder groups, across a diverse and global federated footprint, and driving for results from highly complex funding streams. This position will be based in Atlanta, GA.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop global FOI funding strategy and globalized staff integration roadmap. S/he is responsible for developing the multi-year global foundation and institutional funding strategy in support of the organization’s priority programmatic initiatives and country programs; S/he will identify the core infrastructure and cross-functional interdependencies required to globalize the FOI team; serve as key liaison with program subject matter experts to ensure funding priorities align with strategic plan.
  • Serve as subject matter expert and maintain knowledge of FOI funding landscape in order to identify new and untapped funding opportunities. S/he is responsible for a personal portfolio of foundation and institutional donors as well as supporting the team’s cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors in support of the department’s global revenue target.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with senior level grant makers and program officers through thoughtful cultivation and stewardship, engaging HFHI program experts and senior leadership as appropriate.
  • Working in close collaboration with cross-functional program experts and HFH stakeholders responsible for grant management, ensure all grant proposals, concept papers and other materials align donor requirements and interests with HFHI funding priorities and that all reporting requirements are met in a timely fashion and in full compliance.
  • Provide department leadership and global team development. S/he will provide coaching and leadership development opportunities to ensure team members continue to grow and help drive the organization’s sustainability, efficiency, and growth. Establish team as industry leaders by staying abreast of trends and interests in the funding community and through knowledge sharing.
  • Create a professional environment that encourages and supports a highly functional resource development team; support a culture of excellence and execution of best-in-class partnerships. Model building collaborative relationships across departments/functions based on trust, common objectives, and joint accountability for results.
  • In collaboration with SVP, set annual revenue goals and drive all budgeting and forecasting exercises on behalf of the department.
  • Direct all aspects of establishing team metrics and key performance indicators; support all leadership reporting including senior management and board reporting; ensure team utilization of development CRM system to track and monitor donor engagement and activity.
  • Lead annual performance reviews, job planning and professional development plans for staff members.
Educational Background: 
 Bachelor’s degree; Master’s preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Years of Related Experience: 10+ years of experience in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding complex foundation and/or bi-lateral or multi-lateral donor relationships.
  • Demonstrated success and experience writing and winning 6-, and 7-figure grant proposals in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the full systemic scope and interdependencies involved in establishing and running an effective global FOI program.
  • Ability to collaborate across global teams to foster an environment conducive to generating successful financial and programmatic FOI outcomes.
  • Knowledge of the economic, political and social issues facing countries in the developing world.
  • Experience managing a diverse, global team.
  • Project management experience and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent institutional research skills and familiarity with standard fundraising research tools.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience in preparing budgets and financial reports.
  • Computer literacy: Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook. Spreadsheet and database knowledge (e.g. BBECRM) a plus.
