The Senior Director is responsible for directing the overall Applications architecture, design, development, maintenance, and implementation of the American Cancer Society’s Salesforce CRM system and donation processing integration.  This senior leader works closely with customers from a strategic perspective to identify and maximize opportunities to improve business and stakeholder experience, process system integrations within SLAs, promote the strategic use of information technology and enable the workforce to use technologies as a competitive tool.  Ensures the development of enterprise wide standards for CRM to ensure compatibility and integration of multiple-vendor platforms.  Responsible for organizational balance and system coherency between front-end desktop/client environment and back-end processing functions.  Provides corporate leadership, vision, and direction for CRM and donation processing systems in support of the enterprise’s business objectives and requirements. This role will champion Business Technology through an in-depth understanding of the key business drivers and by proactively providing ideas and solutions to enhance performance through better use of existing technology, redesign of processes and policies, and appropriate migration to new and developing technologies.  This leader oversees the development, integration, and implementation of CRM and event management solutions operating with minimal supervision with significant latitude for independent judgment and decision making.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Assist the VP of Applications in a leadership capacity in evaluation and development of system roadmaps, procedures, establishment of standards, and organizational development in this business technology area. 
  • Implement and maintain best-practice standards and guidelines in the areas of custom and out-of-the-box software development, integration, and deployment of solutions.
  • Delegate responsibility and establish effective working relationships with management, technical personnel, business stakeholders, and vendors. Provide leadership and inspire maximum effort of subordinates; coordinate interrelated activities with other departments; effectively work with managers to plan and schedule complex assignments for technical staff.
  • Ensure the enterprise has the capability to support new technologies and maintain high levels of system performance and reliability through strategic planning.  Leads the migration to new technologies; forecasts financial, physical, and human resource needs to meet established objectives.
  • Partners with the business to provide and maintain a solid technical roadmap for multiple products that matches strategic business goals.  Works with the business on a constant basis to ensure roadmap maintains synchronization to changing business goals, and directs resources toward execution of that roadmap.
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure, Client, Security and Architecture groups for the implementation of common services to ensure smooth transition of technology-based business solutions from development into production and operations support.
  • Manage the annual budget, contract development and management for all areas of responsibility.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Maintains development standards across the application development teams, and ensures each team is up to date with latest best practices around latest technologies, security models, and architectural patterns.
  • Provides status reports and presentations to IT and business leadership staff.
  • Undertakes specialized projects, studies, and assignments as requested by the CIO or VP, Business Technology Solutions.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 10 to 15 years of IT and business/industry work experience, with at least 5 years of leadership experience in managing multiple, large, cross-functional teams or projects, and influencing senior level management and key stakeholders. Experienced in strategic planning, development, implementation and maintenance of large-scale integrated relational database systems.
  • Requires advanced technical and business knowledge in software development life cycle, quality assurance, project management and other related disciplines/processes.
  • Requires experience with Salesforce development (APEX), configuration, deployment, integrations, and maintenance practices.

  • Knowledge of all aspects of Information Systems. Balanced understanding of architecture, design, development, user experience, and business processes and requirements.
  • Strong proactive communicator and change management leader who has been instrumental in leading successful new business technology initiatives.
  • Ability to oversee multiple technology initiatives.
  • Proven success with primary solutions development responsibilities for mission critical project(s)
  • Demonstrated ability to work and provide guidance across departments and divisions in both a team and matrixed environment.

SPECIALIZED TRAINING OR KNOWLEDGE:

  • Strong background in application analysis, development, and testing skills.
  • High-level understanding of contemporary hardware and software architectures.
  • Experience with Salesforce NPSP (Non-profit Success Pack) a plus.

SPECIAL MENTAL OR PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Self-motivated and able to organize work for others.
  • Able to work quickly with attention to detail including high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff.
  • Travel required.
