The Intramural Research Department at the American Cancer Society (ACS) Global Headquarters seeks a professional with evaluation training and mixed method data collection and analysis skills to collaborate with ACS colleagues and stakeholders in the development and implementation of evaluations of Society programs and the design of metrics to support monitoring of these programs. Candidate will primarily support evaluation of ACS programs in cancer prevention/early detection and survivorship, with support for other programs as-needed.This position focuses on supporting Mission- and Income-delivery evaluations for the American Cancer Society by working with colleagues in the Statistics & Evaluation Center (SEC) in addressing evaluation opportunities and collecting and analyzing data.
- Assist SEC leadership in developing and conducting evaluations of ACS prevention/early detection and survivorship programs in collaboration with colleagues from multiple departments and ACS regions.
- Provide support on the design and review of data collection instruments and IRB protocols, including key informant interview guides, surveys, and monitoring forms to support program evaluations.
- Support efforts to ensure collection of quality data and their analysis and dissemination.
- Manage and analyze qualitative data under the direction of SEC leadership.
- Co-author reports, manuscripts, and presentations using SEC findings.
- Other miscellaneous duties as specified by supervisor.
- Combinations of degree and experience will be considered in assessing successful candidates. A background in program evaluation and working knowledge of public health programming, theory, and concepts as they relate to cancer survivorship, cancer prevention is beneficial.
- Evaluate programs, operations, procedures, and policy and help formulate needed changes resulting from lessons learned in the evaluations.
- Good verbal, written, and analysis skills and demonstrated ability to present effectively to small and moderate-sized groups.
- Interact, collaborate, plan, and effectively communicate with individuals from multiple disciplines with varied levels of technical expertise.
- Develop work plans and timelines for small and moderate-sized projects.
- Communicate evaluation objectives and build rapport with evaluation participants.
- Manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
- Qualitative data analysis skills including demonstrated use of qualitative analysis software, preferably MaxQDA.
- Training in qualitative and quantitative analysis.
- Knowledge of and some experience creating logic models for public health programs and design of evaluation of public health interventions.
- Background in public health, community health, or program evaluation.
- Experience with using Microsoft Office products to produce reports, tables, and presentations.
- Work is normally performed in a typical office work environment.
