Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is currently seeking a seasoned IT professional for the role of IT Solution Engineer

This position is responsible for leading the technical and application design for key enterprise technology initiatives and providing input on Enterprise Architecture decisions. The IT Solution Engineer has high visibility to senior leadership and must bring broad technical and application knowledge to bear on envisioning and designing solutions. It requires the ability to work with internal business subject matter experts, other IT staff and vendors to thoroughly vet and craft solutions. Experience with solution architecture, solution design, integration, and detailed design, and comfort in a hands-on leadership role are a requirement. Must be able to easily transition between strategic and operational tasks, proficient in producing complete technical documentation for initiatives and must be resourceful, confident under pressure. The person in this role must be able to demonstrate their skills in both crisis management and scope management.

This position is based at HFHI’s administrative headquarters in downtown Atlanta, GA. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop application solutions and roadmaps, conceptual and detailed planning, technical solutions design, testing and deploying new initiatives to support new and existing systems in the IT ecosystem.
  • Engage in discussions with senior-level business and technology decision-makers related to business value, information technology, security and application support.
  • Enable other members of the technical team and client groups to work together to design solutions, develop business cases, and deliver excellence in project delivery and operational areas.
  • Provide detailed reliable solutions and estimates for assigned technology initiatives.
  • Evaluate competitive technologies and recommend solutions that enable IT to migrate business functionality from current platforms to new solutions, and/or integrate with a variety of hosted solutions.
  • Articulate architectural and application support differences between solution methods, and advise on both the challenges and approaches to integrating solutions built on different platforms.
  • Thoroughly document solution design and effectively coordinate hand-off to implementation project team.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders and provide technical expertise in seeing projects through to completion.
  • Assist or provide technical quality oversight at various points throughout a project lifecycle.
  • Work closely with the Enterprise Architecture and Information Management team to ensure application integration and data quality best practices are defined and followed.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree, in Information Technology, Engineering or related field; MBA in a related field preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Technical certification in relevant technologies strongly preferred, such as ASP.NET, TOGAF, Zachman.
  • Years of Related Experience: 7+ years of experience working with solutions architecture, business applications, application development and support, data analysis, and a work history with progressively responsible positions within IT
  • Proven project management experience, including managing multi-phase/multi-resource projects to conclusion while maintaining high client satisfaction and effective team dynamics.
  • Knowledge of full application life cycle design tools and methodologies, demonstrated consulting skills, and experience with large enterprise deployments in complex heterogeneous environments.
  • Solid understanding of enterprise applications, integration and data management technologies, web and database applications, and software development methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; demonstrated ability to foster positive constructive working relationships
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional environment with multi-national staff; highly motivated to perform in a lead role.
  • Experience in mentoring and educating fellow technology staff members
