Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is in search of an experienced Project Manager III. The project manager will be a technical thought leader that can be the point person in charge of a specific technology project or projects within Habitat for Humanity International. The candidate must be adept at client management, capturing business needs and delivering technology solutions to support business needs. The project manager must be able to plan, budget, monitor and report on the project with project management tools, sometimes pitching the idea of the project or being assigned to it once it’s already been approved. They make sure the scope of the project is sound, reporting regularly on the progress of the project and that it is staying on the approved schedule.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation
  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Report and escalate to management as needed
  • Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Meet with clients to clarify specific requirements of each project
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5+ years of IT project management

  • Organize: Set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals, and track details/data/information/activities.
  • Plan: Determine strategies to move the organization forward, set goals, create and implement actions plans, and evaluate the process and results.
  • Solve Problems: Assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem.
  • Understanding of key software development methodologies.
  • Business analysis and business process design skills
  • Proficient in the use of computers for: word processing, spreadsheet, project management tools, etc.
  • Ability to lead project teams of various sizes and see them through to completion.
  • Strong understanding of formal project management methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in IT project management
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
  • Nonprofit experience
  • Understands Grant Management, Volunteer Management, Gift in Kind
