Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is looking for a critical thinker who can read and make solid recommendations on consolidated financial reports to fill the role of International Finance Manager. This position interacts significantly with other headquarters finance directors based at our international area offices in Slovakia, South Africa, Costa Rica and the Philippines. This is an exciting role that takes part in global finance projects and coordination for the organization, ideal for someone who is a self-starter, comfortable working independently.
Areas of Responsibility:
- To support the day to day international field financial operations, assuring good customer service, communication and coordination with headquarters. (25%)
- To ensure accurate, timely, efficient, and transparent accounting for all of Habitat's financial resources in the assigned area and national country offices. (Including quarterly financial reviews, annual external audit oversight, annual budgeting and reporting findings to both management and field staff.) (25%)
- To lead small and large projects to improve the global financial systems, including policies, procedures, practices, and information systems that are best in the industry, efficient and ensure good internal controls for all of Habitat for Humanity’s international financial resources. (25%)
- To analyze financial statements and other financial reporting data to assist management in implementing decisions based on analysis. (20%)
- To be a responsible and contributing member of the Finance Team and the greater Habitat for Humanity community. (5%)
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree.
Skills/Experience:
- 6+ years of experience in finance, including analyzing consolidated financial statements and reports, and providing appropriate feedback.
- Experience working in or with multiple countries in a finance context.
- Cultural competency and awareness.
- Experience interpreting and calculating ROI, experience with budgeting and forecasting.
- Experience preparing and presenting data and reports.
- Solid understanding of US GAAP.
- Experience with external auditors.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Proficient with MS Office applications as well as experienced with general ledger software, preferably Sun Systems and Navision.
- Experience with complex functions in MS Excel, including creating pivot tables and importing/exporting data.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to influence both field staff and HQ senior management.
- Willing and able to travel up to 20% internationally, as needed.
Preferred:
- MBA.
- Understanding of IFRS.
- Knowledge of grant accounting and public funds requirements, preferably with USAID.
- Experience with A-133 audits.
- Project management skills.
- Change management experience.
- Experience with micro-credit operations, internal controls and banking.
- Experience with non-profit organizations.
- Fluency in another language.
