The Graphic Designer position creates visual executions for all the Society’s Integrated Marketing efforts, ensuring that the work meets business needs, accrues strongly to the Society’s brand, maintains principals of customer-focused design and is highly engaging, provoking response or involvement. Work includes both production-level projects and original creative that is versatile and effective through a variety of mediums from print to digital.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provide creative ideas and design support across all interactive destinations; helping to emotionally connect with the ACS audience and deliver a high-quality customer experience.
  • Produce design deliverables that clearly communicate concept, intention, and appropriateness for the ACS audience.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and consultant on design across digital, print, mobile, social, email, etc.
  • Designs original layouts and produces digital production files for various media channels including digital, mobile and print to solve business needs in accordance with quality and corporate identity standards.
  • Acts as a knowledgeable brand guardian by having a strong understanding of look, feel, voice, guidelines, and overall brand presence - both for specific properties and the overarching Society brand.
  • Accountable for practicing accurate, industry-standard methods for build, pre-flight, and archive of production files.
  • Provides branding, graphics, and production expertise to peers, department colleagues, and client partners.
  • Follows through on design standards set for ACS brands bringing discipline to alignment
  • Provides new thinking when asked to update or address new design assignments
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s or Associates degree in graphic design or interactive media design.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 3+ years cross-platform design experience; progressively responsible experience in graphic design including multimedia web graphics and animation all interfaces.  Agency experience a plus.

SPECIALIZED TRAINING OR KNOWLEDGE:

  • High proficiency in latest Mac operating system. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, XD and Acrobat, HTML 5 strong plus ) in a MAC environment.
  • Solid grasp of design concepts.
  • Strong typographical skills.  
  • Thorough understanding digital/mobile design principles including how to develop and transition brands from screen to screen.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Web-based workflow applications.
  • Extensive knowledge of print and digital production techniques and standards.
  • Knowledge of Web accessibility standards and methods a strong plus.
  • Experience with digital asset management systems a strong plus.
  • Experience working within branded design systems a strong plus.
  • Photography skills a strong plus.
  • Should have a strong online portfolio demonstrating progressive experience in design and usability across multiple screens.
