Habitat for Humanity International is currently seeking a creative, motivated, hands-on Drupal 8 Front-end Developer to lead enhancements to habitat.org, take it to the next level, deliver the best user experience and drive HFHI’s strategic goals. 
The Drupal 8 Front-End Developer will report to the Director, Digital Communications Technology and will work closely with in-house user experience designers, data analysts, digital content and production team, IT and with a Drupal backend vendor. As a part of the Digital Communications team you will be essential in running HFHI’s flagship website, www.habitat.org. Habitat.org is critical in building awareness of and engagement with HFHI’s myriad of programs, driving donations, volunteer participation, and advocacy.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining front-end development and theming for habitat.org, a Drupal website, including responsive and adaptive Drupal theming and driving a mobile-first approach.
  • Responsibilities include developing custom themes and writing additional code as needed, utilizing and implementing Drupal modules to enhance functionality and design with the ultimate goal of delivering the best user experience.
  • Build dynamic interactive experiences using HTML, CSS and JavaScript, work with and integrate front-end frameworks such as Angular, React and Vue.
  • Work closely with back-end developers to ensure effective implementation and bring a strong understanding of the entire web development process, including UX practices, development and deployment, with some back-end familiarity, including PHP, mySQL (Drupal’s database).
  • Use knowledge of Drupal API to work with user experience design team and internal IT to inform API integration with 3rd party apps and platforms — API’s, web services, feeds, etc.
  • Test web templates and user interface designs across multiple browsers, operating systems, and different digital devices to verify websites display correctly.
  • Collaborate with UX and analytics team to set up pages for A/B tests, actively monitor performance by using tools like New Relic, provide support and insights for Web optimization.
  • Provide basic website and CMS troubleshooting for digital team, attention to detail to ensure that website is bug free,
  • Keep on top of industry and technology emerging trends and provide insights on interactive design, new Drupal developments, modules, and front-end technology, train and mentor junior developers.
  • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Years of Related Experience: 3-5 years related experience
  • A deep understanding of Drupal API and hands-on experience with Drupal 8 theming and front-end development a must.
  • Expertise in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, including significant experience with JavaScript theme frameworks/libraries (React Bootstrap, Material UI, etc.) is required.
  • Capable of understanding new technology quickly, especially involving third-party integration.
  • Attention to detail a must.
  • Knowledge of and/or willingness to learn to apply JavaScript skills to support advanced analytics tracking via Google Tag Manager (GTM), make improvements to the data layer to capture site on-page events.

Preferred:

  • Experience using Optimizely for A/B tests.
  • Aptitude for user experience metrics.
  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO) experience
  • Familiarity with rules of good design and branding.
  • Motivated to research and learn about new technologies and practices.
