Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is currently seeking a talented professional for the role of a Director - Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter (TCIS) Operations. This individual would support and advance the Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter’s work to catalyze thriving and inclusive housing markets. As a part of Habitat for Humanity’s Terwilliger Center management team, s/he will be responsible for shaping and maintaining processes and systems that will optimize our team’s efficiency and increase our capacity to bring more innovative, market-based solutions to the affordable housing sector. This unique role will work across all regions/practice areas of the Terwilliger Center promoting efficiency and profitability within the team, as well as interdepartmentally.

This position will report to the Vice President for the Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter and will work across the Center’s multiple practice areas and geographical regions. This positions will be based in Atlanta, GA.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Strategic Business Plan and Key Performance Metrics: Work with VP and Practice Area Directors to develop and update the global TCIS business plan, establish internal metrics to measure and evaluate progress towards goals, and manage overall operational performance and efficiency metrics
  • Manage TCIS business plan and 2023 impact goals, manage and control data on progress towards impact KPIs, and guide the global TCIS on consistent application of data quality
  • Regularly evaluate the efficiency of business procedures according to organizational objectives and drive continuous improvements in areas including internal communication, cost effectiveness, logistics, and procurement
  • Interdepartmental Coordination: Liaise with functional departments (Finance, HR, Communications, RD) both at HFHI headquarters and at the regional level to ensure appropriate resources are allocated to and then deployed effectively to support the work of the Terwilliger Center as necessary for the advancement of the Strategic Plan
  • SRT: Ensure the TCIS is providing data of quality and consistency to the SRT and towards Habitat for Humanity’s organizational impact goals. Lead the TCIS towards a consistent application of measuring and filtering data from the field.
  • HR: Serve as point person to HFHI’s HR team and manage a global work stream of human resource needs for the Terwilliger Center. Work with Terwilliger Center staff globally to craft focused job descriptions, effectively target candidates for open positions, onboard new hires, and facilitate our internship programs
  • Finance: Serve as the technical reporting supervisor for the Finance Manager assigned to focus on the Terwilliger Center. Work with the finance department to develop and track progress on an annual plan for the finance department’s support for our team
  • IT: Oversee the completion of work begun on an internal database for monitoring and analyzing the impact and cost-efficiencies of our advisory services work
  • Communications: Serve as point person for development of an annual work and support plan for the Terwilliger Center’s communications, publication, and online strategies in conjunction with Habitat’s Communications department
  • Resource Development: Serve as key liaison with the RD department to develop an annual plan and support strategy for the TCIS’s general fundraising needs
  • Procurement: Work in collaboration with the Finance and Regional Technical Expertise teams to ensure efficient and effective processes and procedures to negotiate, execute, and administer contracts/MOUs/other related agreements. Manage procurement processes and coordinate material and resources allocation
  • Digital Solutions: Collaborate with the Director of Research and Thought Leadership to identify and deploy the digital platforms that strengthen our teams’ collaboration and advance our sectoral impact including contact management systems, social media accounts, and webinar platforms
  • Compliance: Ensure that the Terwilliger Center compiles with Habitat’s standards and processes, while also advancing adoption of processes and systems that would improve efficiency and support our work
  • Administration: Manage a Terwilliger Center administrative support team of at least one person
  • Events/Logistics: Revise and/or formulate operational policies around event planning & logistics, including internal and external communications, travel budgets, and project management for sponsorships
  • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Business Admin, Non-profit management or related field
Skills/Experience: 
  • Years of Related Experience: 8-10 years related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • In-depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles (e.g. communications, finance, procurement, logistics, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of performance/operation metrics and the appropriate data analysis, prior experience in P/L Cost Center Control responsibility preferred, LEAN management or Continuous Improvement experience a plus
  • Familiarity with MS Office and various business software (e.g. ERP, CRM)
  • Ability to work simultaneously on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment where priorities change frequently in response to external needs and opportunities
  • Proven leadership and organizational planning/execution/oversight skills
  • Exceptional communication skills and proven experience working in a collaborative environment

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience in an innovation center, spin-off or other similar type of “entity within an entity” preferred; experience in event planning, contract administration, and/or procurement a plus
