Habitat for Humanity International(HFHI) is seeking a talented individual for our Director – Research & Measurement position. As Habitat moves into the future, HFHI seeks to work across the US network to build a strong outcomes evidence base, demonstrating through rigorous impact measurement the power of improved housing conditions and strong communities to create lasting change for those we serve. Moreover, Habitat seeks to invest in understanding and sharing evidence-based practices across its network. Through its investments in measurement and research, Habitat will be equipped with powerful data to better advocate and improve housing conditions for the communities we serve.
The Director - Research & Measurement will lead the planning for and implementation of a new research and measurement function at Habitat in the US. This person will work with senior leadership to create and oversee a measurement approach for the US network and provide supports for affiliates to collect and report impact data.
- Assess affiliate and HFHI measurement and research capacity
- Create a strategy and implementation plan for the US Research & Measurement function, with input from key stakeholders, particularly affiliates and senior leadership.
- Build partnerships with universities, think tanks and other organizations that can advance Habitat’s measurement work and bring complementary skills/expertise to this work
- Lead, commission and/or manage strategic research in the US
- Create trainings, tools and supports consistent with Habitat’s MEAL approach to enable affiliates to collect and report the impact data required for the measurement agenda.
- Provide technical input and guidance for other research or impact measurement initiatives at HFHI
- Provide regular reports on the network’s impact to senior leadership, HFHI staff, and affiliates
- Create and manage a repository of knowledge and learnings generated through research and outcome/impact measurement that is actively shared and accessible throughout the Habitat network.
- Seek opportunities to share knowledge beyond Habitat – e.g., via publications and conferences
- At least 8-10 years of relevant experience in impact measurement
- Strong understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
- Experience leading, commissioning and managing research is essential
- Practical field-level experience building buy-in and collecting data across different actors
- Experience designing data collection tools and providing technical support to developers and users of these tools
- Experience with designing and facilitating capacity building and training
- Strong Project Management, coordination and facilitation skills required
- Ideally has a strong knowledge base around evidence-based practices in housing and community development
- Computer aptitude - proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Word and SharePoint; familiar customer relationship management (CRM) systems; familiar with regression analysis software or programming language; online survey tools; ability to learn new software solutions.
