Reporting to the Senior Director of New Business Development, the Director of New Business Development is responsible for securing new revenue through strategic partnerships with major corporations in support of MOD’s mission. The candidate will work closely with revenue leadership, regional staff, volunteers and key program stakeholders to maximize revenue opportunities and engage their networks to open doors at Fortune 500 companies and other major corporations. The candidate will manage a portfolio of prospects and be personally responsible for a minimum revenue goal of $2+ million annually (new business and renewals).

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Create and implement a national, and major market corporate new business strategy for assigned markets and industry channels to increase corporate revenue for MOD
  • Responsible for meeting annual corporate fund-raising goals for renewals and new business.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of prospects through systematic and ongoing prospecting activities; proactively pursue business networking opportunities and MOD Leadership and Market connections (staff and volunteers) and establish relationships with business leaders in major metropolitan areas to seek qualified leads.
  • Qualify prospects and design effective partnership programs based upon knowledge of partner business/ CSR objectives and alignment with MOD funding priorities.
  • Develop comprehensive solicitation plans and pitches that outline stakeholder involvement and strategic approach for cultivation and solicitation of partner commitment.
  • Develop and deliver creative and powerful presentations and proposals for corporate partnership opportunities.
  • Negotiate deal terms and collaborate with MOD legal and finance teams to ensure compliance.
  • Define account-specific strategies that deepen partner engagement with MOD and foster mutually beneficial, sustainable, mission-centered partnerships.
  • Remain current on, market trends, and competitor actions in order to identify opportunities for prospect development.
  • Implement innovative strategies to position MOD for short and long-term revenue growth including the diversification of the partner industry portfolio and comprehensive solicitations across multiple funding channels (i.e., MFB teams, consumer marketing, workplace giving/employee engagement, strategic mission partnerships, sponsorship).
  • Based on tiered service model, transition day-to-day project management of partnership implementation to Account Manager while collaborating closely with the partner and AM to ensure 100% partner satisfaction through thoughtful stewardship and best-in-class customer service.
  • In collaboration with Account Manager, maintain and expand existing corporate partner relationships through on-going communication and solicitation as appropriate; ensure timely renewals and continued partnership growth YOY.
  • Provide leadership and training as appropriate to market and regional staff regarding Corporate Engagement and major account development.
  • Utilize electronic data management tools in order to review and analyze pertinent information, monitor financial and mission related results and ensure transparency on status of engagement with other internal stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties from time-to-time in order to ensure the attainment of market financial goals.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred and/or directly related professional skills and experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of 5 years of directly related work experience in increasingly responsible positions with demonstrated success in corporate engagement. 
  • Candidate must have a sophistication in understanding corporate landscape, the ability to innovate and experience in developing relationships that have resulted in six and seven figure revenue. 
  • Proficiency in prioritizing tasks; ability to think strategically; strong project and time management skills; excellent verbal and written presentation skills; superior interpersonal skills; problem resolution skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office and PowerPoint specifically.
  • Demonstrated high standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Must be a self-starter with strong leadership, management, and communication skills.
  • May involve lifting and carrying boxes; may involve traveling by car or plane to meetings and training.
