Habitat for Humanity International is seeking an innovative leader to join our Volunteer & Institutional Engagement (VIE) team as the Director of Long Term Volunteer Programs (LVP). Habitat's Long Term Volunteer Programs include AmeriCorps National, AmeriCorps VISTA, Campus Chapters, RV Care-A-Vanners and Habitat Young Professional Chapters.
Reporting to the Vice President of VIE, the Director - LVP is the key management leader of the Long-term Volunteer Programs department and is responsible for overseeing strategy and operations. This role will be responsible for maintaining partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, decision making around large events and management of staff. This position will be located in our Administrative Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia and will require approximately 20% travel including some International trips.
Division Innovation & Strategy:
- Report to the divisional VP & serve on the leadership team to make/support high-level decisions around strategy, programming and funding to increase the overall visibility of volunteers
- Support the creation of Habitat's long term strategy for engaging multi-generational volunteers in the future
- Support the organization's priority to create a global youth engagement strategy
- Support driving the implementation of new innovative strategies
Department Purpose and Strategy:
- Works with staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, planning and outreach
- Responsible for ensuring the implementation of the department's programs that carry out the organization’s mission through the department's purpose and objectives
- Responsible for annual planning to ensure that volunteer programs can successfully fulfill its purpose and objectives
- Serve as various volunteer programs' primary spokesperson to the program’s constituents and the general public
- Oversee marketing and other communication efforts
- Establish and maintain relationships with various divisions/departments throughout the organization and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance the ability for the department to deliver on it's purpose and objectives

Staff Governance:
- Leads and empowers staff in order to fulfill the department's purpose and objectives
- Ensures clarity of goals & objectives for the department
- Allocates resources and workload management as well as prioritization
- Responsible for the selection and retention efforts of competent, qualified staff ** Provides development opportunities
- Oversee organization of staff and leadership team meetings
Financial Performance & Viability:
- Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the department
- Responsible for the fiscal integrity of the department, to include submission and operation of an annual budget and financial statement, which accurately reflect the financial conditions
- Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the department in a positive financial position
- Responsible for fundraising and developing other resources necessary to support volunteer programs' purpose
Department Operations:
- Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the department are appropriate
- Responsible effective administration of department operations
- Responsible for signing all notes, agreements, contracts and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the organization
- Establish an overall annual program budget and then monitor each program to make sure the budget is not exceeded
- Develop comprehensive progress reports on all active programs as required or necessary
- Maintain and deliver all paperwork and reports required to make sure that the volunteer programs remain intact and in compliance/good-standing
- 10 or more years experince as a Senior, Non-Profit Manager or Similar Program Manager
- 8 or more years experience in Volunteer Program Development, Management/Leadership Development or related disciplines
- Knowledge of volunteer administration principles and practices
- Ability to manage organizational dynamics and cross-departmental collaborations
- Able to lead and manage cross functional and virtual teams and influence others without direct position report
- Client management and business development skills within a collaborative environment
- Ability to think strategically
- Excellent and demonstrated oral and written communications skills
- Experience in, and ability to work effectively with a range of cultures and a range of hierarchical levels
- Proficiency in computer and software applications
- Interest and experience in using knowledge sharing tools
- Transparent and high integrity leadership
- Solid, hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting
- Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation
