The Director, Integrated Marketing & Communications for Sports & Entertainment Partnerships, serves as a member of the Integrated Marketing & Communications team that supports ACS Brand & Revenue initiatives.The position’s primary responsibility is to develop integrated marking and communications strategies and tactics supporting ACS Sports & Entertainment Partnerships.This person will work directly with leaders of Sports & Entertainment Partnerships, marketing leadership, corporate communications leadership and subject matter experts (SMEs) to plan, execute and evaluate integrated marketing and communications strategies that support the business goals, as well as advance American Cancer Society marketing objectives.This individual will serve as a critical thought partner and internal consultant to lead the creation of smart and fully accountable plans in a nimble and efficient manner. This role is responsible for ensuring that all marketing and communications tactics are integrated horizontally and vertically across the organization.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Integrated Marketing & Communications Strategic Planning

  • Leads strategic consultations with leaders of Sports & Entertainment Partnerships, directs audience and industry analysis (leveraging the ACS Insights & Analytics team as appropriate), and reviews relevant industry reports and news coverage in order to identify actionable insights for marketing and communications strategies.
  • Determines priority target audience segments and identifies relevant audience insights.
  • Develops strategic briefs that provide clear and concise direction for subject matter experts to implement integrated strategy planning, creative development and marketing and communications tactical execution.
  • Leads the development of integrated marketing and communications plans working collaboratively with marketing and communications subject matter experts. Plans should include owned, earned, shared and paid media tactics, proposed content, and communications calendar.
  • Ensures all materials across multiple marketing and communications channels and formats (including printed collateral and digital assets) represent content strategy and ACS brand positioning and messaging appropriately.
  • Ensures evaluation systems and key metric tracking approaches are in place to monitor marketing and communications plan performance and report progress to enterprise and regional leadership.

Marketing Communications Message Development

  • Recommends the key topics and categories where messaging needs be finalized to communicate effectively with all key audiences and stakeholders.
  • Works with business owners to develop clear and compelling message platforms to inform content development across all marketing and communications channels, for internal and external audiences.
  • Reviews content developed by other communications team members to ensure adherence to communications strategy for assigned business initiatives.

Business Relationship Management:

  • Serves as the liaison between business leadership and the marketing and communications teams throughout all phases of strategy planning and plan implementation.
  • Leads in preparing subject matter experts for calls and meetings to review strategies, plans, content and progress reports with business stakeholders and marketing and communications leaders.
  • Maintains routine touchbases with business stakeholders, including scheduling and leading conference calls and distributing email updates as appropriate.
  • Leads in solutions-oriented consultations with business stakeholders as needed to solve problems, manage change, resolve unexpected challenges and respond to unplanned opportunities

Integrated Marketing & Communications Project Management

  • Oversees the development of end-to-end project management timelines with key milestones to ensure plans are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Monitors project work teams during execution to manage any issues or risks that may arise and represents the strategic marketing department on inter-disciplinary projects and cross-functional work groups.
  • Fosters timely communication and effective collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Manages timely reporting on plan progress during implementation and in post-implementation wrap-up reports.
Educational Background: 
Minimum Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 8+ years related work experience.

  • Deep experience in integrated marketing planning with emphasis on digital strategy.
  • Excellent client relationship management skills and ability to quickly gain trusted advisor status with key stakeholders.
  • Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Possesses a strong digital marketing background and understanding of when and how to leverage these channels for best outcomes.
  • Highly developed writing with experience drafting clear and compelling strategy proposals and presentations.
  • Ability to deliver strategies and tactics on time and on budget.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with project management resources that support this job function, but reports elsewhere.
  • Possess excellent attention to detail.
  • Analytical and possess strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter. High initiative and follow-through.
  • Ability to think strategically and work in an extremely fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects simultaneously.

SPECIALIZED TRAINING OR KNOWLEDGE:

  • Extensive strategic thinking, project management and client services skills are a must.
  • Experience in partnership marketing and cause marketing preferred.
  • Agency experience preferred.

SPECIAL MENTAL OR PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • No or very limited physical effort required.
  • Some travel may be required on as-needed basis.
