Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is currently seeking a talented professional for the role of a Director - Foundation, Organization and Institutional Relations. Reporting to the VP, Global Foundation and Institutional Relations, the Director manages a team of three Foundation Relations Officers. S/he is responsible for the development and implementation of an overall resource strategy to secure new and renewed grant funding in support of HFHI's global mission. S/he will work closely with Resource Development global leadership and key HFHI program stakeholders to maximize resource opportunities and leverage complex funding primarily through large, private, U.S.-based foundations and institutional funders to meet HFHI fiscal revenue goals. This position will be based in our HFHI's administrative headquarter in Atlanta, GA.
- Strategy (25%): As HFHI embarks on globalizing its resource development workforce, assist in developing the strategy for building a global FOI team that serves as sectoral best-in-class development leaders generating six and seven figure commitments to support Habitat’s US and international priority programs; develop funding strategy for US-based donors in support of global funding priorities
- Solicitation (15%): Collaborate with HFHI leadership, Resource Development team and program stakeholders to ensure all grant proposals, concept papers and other materials align donor requirements and interests with HFHI funding priorities and needs; Working in close collaboration with cross-functional program and HFHI stakeholders, draft proposals and supporting materials for major grant applications; support/mentor frontline team in grant development process
- Cultivation & Stewardship (20%): Build and maintain effective relationships with program officers through thoughtful cultivation and stewardship; introduce HFHI program officers and senior leadership as appropriate to educate, inform and engage multiple stakeholders
- Management (30%): Day-to-day management of direct reports; direct all aspects of administration for the FOI team including budgeting, key performance indicators and metrics, and related processes; Create a professional environment that encourages and supports a highly functional resource development team; support a culture of excellence and execution of best-in-class partnerships; foster environment of continuous improvement/knowledge sharing amongst global HFHI peers; apply learnings to identify and seek new funding opportunities
- Prospect Identification (5%): Through in-depth research and/or personal knowledge of grant-making organizations, lead the identification process of potential funders that align with HFHI funding priorities; assign prospects to the frontline team
- Reporting (5%): Supervise grant reporting process; monitor deadlines and work closely with HFHI stakeholders and program officers to ensure reporting requirements are met in a timely fashion and in full compliance with the foundation's reporting standards including HFHI finance and legal departments to ensure grant agreements, acknowledgements and payments are processed on time and accurately; Maintain accurate, detailed records in master HFHI prospect management database
- 8+ years of related professional experience
- Programmatic and development experience in securing complex, six-and seven-figure multiyear grants preferably with the top funders in the housing/shelter, community development, and international affairs/human services sectors
- Strong team management, leadership and individual development skills
