Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking a Web Editor to join the Communications/Web Services team. This position will work closely with other editors to create and edit content for habitat.org, review and edit various emails, newsletters and marketing campaigns. The Web Editor will also work alongside the Web Services team on various projects and be involved in SEO-based web strategy and planning for habitat.org. The position will work with other programs and departments to determine the best use of content and layout within the Drupal 8 CMS. The Web Editor will be expected to be familiar with AP Style and to become familiar with Habitat’s brand style in order to ensure that copy is grammatically accurate, style guidelines are consistently followed and that content is clear, concise and compelling. This position will be based in HFHI's administrative headquarters in Atlanta, GA.
Key Responsibilities:
This position will reside in the Web Services group, with its primary job function including:
- Work with all groups throughout the organization on their content, including the best use of content and layout within a CMS.
- Creating, editing and maintaining webpages for all of Habitat.org and organize approval workflows.
- Review and edit various outgoing emails, newsletters and marketing campaigns.
- Involvement in web strategy and planning with Web Communications team.
- Ensuring content standards and formats are met.
- Ensuring overall AP style guidelines are followed.
- Ensuring copy is grammatically accurate.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in English, journalism, communications or marketing.
- At least 2-3 years experience working with HTML and CSS.
- At least 2-3 years experience in creating and evaluating solid SEO-based content strategy.
- At least 2-3 years experience working within complex content management systems, preferably Drupal.
- At least 2-3 years experience using Google Analytics.
- 3-4 years of prior web copy writing and editing experience.
- Understand project prioritization and how to manage projects effectively.
- Familiarity with AP style, as well as Habitat Style Guide preferences.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office software and full familiarity with web content management systems, preferably Drupal 7 and/or 8.
- Be a strategic thinker with ability to drive measurable results and manage multiple projects for several key constituencies in a complex environment.
- Be interested in striving to achieve content that is readable, searchable, actionable and shareable across all types of online media.
- Demonstrated ability to develop clear, concise content for a variety of audiences; understanding of web development; deadline orientation; and excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with ability to multi-task.
- Current knowledge of web best practices and usability and how to utilize them appropriately on various types of web based projects (email, website content, navigation, etc.)
- Be able to work closely with rest of the Web team, departmental content owners, and writer-editors to develop and coordinate more compelling and innovative Web content.
- Familiarity with basic web software packages.
Preferred:
- Experience planning, implementing and evaluating successful content strategy measures.
- Experience in search engine marketing, Google AdWords, ad placement strategy and creating content targeting high-value searches a big plus.
- Experience working with social media like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube preferred.
Beneficial but not required:
- Non-web writing experience and knowledge of housing industry and/or nonprofit sector a plus.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat).
- Working knowledge of Direct Response content marketing.
