The ideal candidate for the Director, User Experience role has proven experience in leadership, research, information architecture, interaction design, graphic design and content to create compelling and engaging experiences. As well as the core experience design skills, this position will lead UX projects, including teams of designers, as well as helping internal clients and stakeholders through the experience design journey. This is a hands-on role, where the ideal candidate will act as both a player and coach on the UX team.This role also leads a highly-collaborative User Experience team made up of one (1) Senior Digital Art Director/Designer and two (2) Information Architects.
- Provide leadership and guidance throughout the entire UX strategy and design process.
- Work collaboratively with the Creative Content Strategy team to understand the creative direction and specifications of marketing campaigns serving as the bridge between concept and execution for the user experience across all digital and creative assets.
- Collaborates with the Enterprise Web Management team to increase engagement and donations on cancer.org, ACS’ top digital platform.
- Lead dedicated UX team of designers, information architects and content specialists.
- Develop guidelines, standards, behaviors and style guides to ensure brand (and sub-brand) consistency across all media.
- Create UI specifications for use by technical teams.
- Develop sitemaps, wires, user flows and prototypes based on insights/research/data.
- Ensure utilization of effective processes, methods, techniques and evaluation criteria.
- Facilitate stakeholder discovery, reviews and communication.
- Work with research and insights group to synthesize data/personas, use cases, concepts, user journeys and information architecture.
- Understand and incorporate technical and business requirements into compelling UX design.
- Deliver effective site architecture, navigation design, page layout and interaction design; presenting them to internal teams and clients.
- Lead team to produce interactive working prototypes as necessary.
- Foster an environment of collaboration; work closely with content strategists, art directors, digital content specialists, copywriters and all other stakeholders.

- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and other key web technologies.
- iOS or Android app / mobile site design experience required.
- Should have a strong online portfolio demonstrating progressive experience in design and usability across multiple screens.
