This Sr Director will serve as the primary lead for the marketing strategy and execution in support of all divisions across the March of Dimes organization. The Senior Director will play a significant role, alongside the Sr, Director of Audience + Multi-Channel Marketing and reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, to set the marketing goals for the organization.  This role will ensure the execution of all marketing goals set forth in the organizational strategic plan are well-established and fulfilled.  This position will oversee a dynamic team that serves as the strategic marketing liaisons for all other divisions within the organization. In this role, the Sr, Director will establish and maintain strong working relationships with the ELC members that lead the various divisions within March of Dimes and have a deep understanding of the goals within each division in order to create strategic marketing plans.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Strategic framework and message development

  • Must have in-depth understanding of the audience segments and targets as set forth by the Sr Director of Audience + Multi-Channel Marketing
  • Uses insights and audience + channel strategy set for the division to craft message architecture and establish plans that well ensure message delivery to appropriate audiences through designated channels
  • Must ensure consistency of outbound message by internal divisions by providing necessary tools, materials, training, etc.
  • Team is responsible for setting the appropriate brand and message guidelines for the organization, including the markets (market team reports directly to this VP)

Strategic planning and execution

  • Responsible for the development of annual strategic plans that align to the organization’s strategic plan by providing sound strategies and tactical approaches to help build brand awareness, position March of Dimes as a leader in the maternal and infant health space, creates engagement and ultimately drives revenue
  • Works with individuals on his/her team to create individual plans for divisional support aligned to organization’s strategic goals (includes strategic plans for executive thought leadership, research initiatives, mission programs and signature events)
  • Manages team to ensure execution of the plans to exceed goals; includes working across the marketing division to ensure all activity is delivered at the highest quality and in a timely manner
  • Captures monthly, quarterly and annual reporting for all measurement/metrics that demonstrate progress to goals

Staff management

  • Leads a large customer-centric team of individuals who are independently responsible for the marketing plans and support for each division within organization, including executives + President’s office, Research/PRCs, Mission, and Development.
  • Responsible for development of all direct reports and coaching of direct reports respective staff

Reporting and accountability

  • Accountable to and reports directly to the Chief Marketing Officer
  • Works closely alongside the VP of Audience + Multi-Channel Marketing and in collaboration with the Sr. Directors of Content + Creative, Digital and Brand Activation + PR
  • Responsibility to the ELC members and leadership teams of other divisions within organization
  • Responsibility for budget planning as member of senior team in the Marketing division and accountable to manage expenses to budget
Educational Background: 
Four year college degree or equivalent
Skills/Experience: 
  • 12 years experience
  • Extensive experience in integrated marketing, including creative/content, digital and communications/PR
  • Strong management experience
  • Strong project management skills, working across divisions
  • Problem-solver, creative thinking skills
  • Experience in customer-centric roles, such as agency background, internal client support, etc
  • Experience reporting to or working with executive leadership teams
  • Willingness to travel
