Manage the analytic activities of the March of Dimes Perinatal Data Center (PDC), including creating, managing and enhancing the Center’s maternal and child health databases that serve as the cornerstone of all PDC products and services.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop and manage national perinatal databases, including data from national birth and infant death files, surveys, and surveillance systems.  Collaborate with external website consultant to prepare and transfer data for PeriStats (marchofdimes.org/peristats).
  • Develop creative approaches for expanding the analytic capacity of the Perinatal Data Center (PDC) by identifying and obtaining new national, stat/local and clinical databases.
  • Collaborate with PDC colleagues and external partners from public and private epidemiologic research organizations to conduct data analyses addressing relevant and timely perinatal health issues related to the mission of the March of Dimes
  • Create and maintain procedural policies that guide the analytic activities of PDC staff and consultants.  Manage work of technical consultants and graduate level interns.
  • Provide technical assistance to colleagues on study design, statistical methods and analytic approaches.
  • Assist market level and national March of Dimes staff and volunteers in understanding and using maternal and child health data.
  • Other projects as assigned.
Educational Background: 
A Master’s Degree in epidemiology, maternal and child health, biostatistics or health informatics.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5-7 years previous work experience in a position(s) that required use of programming, management of large data sets, and use of epidemiologic and statistical methods.
  • Expertise in data management and database development.
  • Experience managing long term data projects.
  • Proficiency in SPSS/SAS, MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Power Point.
  • Experience with REDCap project development and administration a plus.
  • Proficiency in SPSS (IBM Certified Specialist - SPSS Statistics Level 1 v2 andIBM SPSS Modeler Data Analysis)
  • Proficiency in SAS (SAS Certified Base or Advanced Programmer for SAS 9)
  • Completion of Course on REDCap (Data Management for Clinical Research by Coursera)
  • Ability to conduct simultaneous tasks and prioritize.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • High regard for precision and accuracy.
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills.
