Manage the Perinatal Data Center (PDC); oversee development, maintenance, and expansion of PeriStats; manage PDC projects and publications; represent the PDC at internal meetings. Direct activities of the Perinatal Data Center, including the collection and analysis of data related to perinatal health and March of Dimes (MOD/Organization) programs; the publication of the results of these analyses in the form of reports, white papers, articles, and testimony; the translation of this information so that it is understandable to a wide range of internal and external constituents including the general public; the provision of technical assistance and training to MOD chapters, national office staff, volunteers, partners, and users of MOD products; and the maintenance and growth of PDC products and relevance in the perinatal field and elsewhere.
- Provide technical assistance to MOD staff in the national and market offices on matters relating to perinatal health; respond to requests to the PDC from the markets, health professionals, and the public on perinatal data issues; assist Marketing and Communications in preparing and writing press releases and speeches; assist Advocacy and Government Affairs in writing and revising public affairs data publications and policy statements; assist staff in preparation of speeches for senior management of the MOD; conduct seminars and formal training for staff on the use of data to advance the mission of the MOD.
- Manage independent scientific projects and produce articles for publication in peer-reviewed journals, white papers and reports; prepare abstracts for submission to annual public health/data meetings on behalf of MOD; present data at meetings of national professional organizations; represent MOD externally on matters related to maternal and child health, particularly related to perinatal data; assist MOD leaders with editing articles and publications as needed.
- Provide guidance and supervision to PDC to ensure its work best meets the needs of mission departments and constituencies (media, public, chapters). Provide direction on product development, budget and timeline, including overseeing the work of development, maintenance, and expansion of PeriStats. Supervise multiple staff, consultants, interns and other support staff, and volunteers who work for the PDC.
- Advise on program evaluation activities to ensure that MOD funds are wisely invested in programs, projects and activities that improve pregnancy outcomes. Consult on technical/methodological approaches to research activities to ensure that they are scientifically sound.
- Use existing resources to develop an agenda of original research in perinatal quality improvement for the Organization. Ensure that findings of research efforts are promoted widely to internal and external audiences through peer-reviewed publications, PeriStats and other new and existing products of the PDC.
- Advise and support senior leaders in providing strategic coordination and integration of MOD programs and objectives among mission departments to increase organizational capability to achieve broad mission goals (global programs, MCH/NICU Innovation, public education, professional education). Support mission departments by providing broad analysis of March of Dimes programs and March of Dimes-funded programs.
- Incumbent must have a track record of published research and Federal and/or private organization grant funding.
- Leadership, ability to manage multiple priorities, ability to represent MOD on scientific/epidemiological issues.
- Epidemiology and/or evaluation methods. Perinatal experience strongly preferred.
