This position is responsible for contributing to the March of Dimes accounting processes and policies, preparation of financial reports, assist with annual audit, Form 990, and required state filings, and provide specific support for various functions.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Accounting Reconciliations: Preparation of the following: monthly reconciliation for balance sheet accounts including: cash, investments, prepaid, inventory, lease obligations, accounts receivable, and overhead allocations.  Preparation of Form 941 reconciliation, direct mail allocation, and legislative activity allocations. 
  • Financial Reporting:  Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for the March of Dimes.  Create reports to help management review financial data in useful and informative way enabling them to make timely and accurate decisions. 
  • Audit Work:  Assist the Corporate Controller in the completion of the annual financial statement audit and single audit. Prepare detailed analysis of general ledger accounts, assist in planning of work plan, and provide any documents requested by outside firm.  Assist Corporate Controller in any internal audit plans as the need arises.
  • Form 990 and State Filings: Working directly with outside tax firm, prepare the annual Federal Form 990 Return. Working with the outside firm prepare annual charitable state solicitations, monthly/quarterly/annual state sales and use tax fillings, and sales tax exemptions renewals.
  • Department Administration:  Assist the Corporate Controller in documenting policies and procedures.  Offer leadership and guidance with remaining staff within the Corporate Accounting team. Assist in hiring and training of new staff. 
Educational Background: 
Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting, Not for profit account training.  NetSuite experience is a plus, not required. CPA or CPA candidate actively working to towards their certification.
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5 to 10 years experience
  • Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, knowledge of not for profit accounting and internal control principles. Ability to work in PC environment with emphasis on complex spreadsheet (Excel) analysis and preparation, and accounting ERP systems.
  • Personal and professional integrity.  Leadership by example.  Ability to juggle multiple tasks.  Ability to prioritize.  Ability to organize workflow. Ability to meet deadlines. Good communication skills. Ability to work within a team.
