The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Development Director in Anchorage. As the Senior Director you are accountable for an overall fundraising goal of $1M+ which includes the direct management and implementation of the Go Red For Women campaign as well staff supervisory responsibility for the Heart Run and Heart Walk campaigns. You provide leadership in the recruitment, cultivation and management of high level volunteers in the community to provide sustained growth for the mission of the AHA.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Directly manage and execute the Go Red For Women campaign to achieve the established revenue goal through a combination of corporate sponsorship and philanthropic giving
- Supervise and coach staff in achieving campaign goals for the Heart Run and Heart Walk campaigns
- Drive the ongoing process of identifying, recruiting and managing executive level volunteers to support the campaign efforts
- Conduct regular face to face interaction with corporate accounts, current and prospects, as well as volunteer leadership
- Identify and secure new corporate sponsorship and engagement in collaboration with internal and external partners
- Follow the AHA established best practices and expense and event guidelines. Ensures effective and efficient method for tracking event volunteer recruitment and event results,
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, public relations or related field or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience:
- 3 - 5 years of successful experience in fundraising, outside sales, marketing or public relations
- Effective staff management experience
- Ability to accomplish results through strong volunteer recruitment, training, and management
- Highly effective organizational, communication, negotiations and interpersonal skills. Detail oriented and ability to multi-task
- Self-starter able to work well in a team driven environment
- Knowledge of AHA’s mission and programs
- Ability to delegate and accomplish goals through volunteers.
- Ability and willingness to travel and to work evenings and weekends as needed (average 10+face to face meeting weekly)
Here are some of the preferred skills we are looking for:
- Experience in corporate fundraising with the American Heart Association or a similar non-profit organization
- Identifying and closing high level cash sponsorship
- B2B fundraising/sales experience
