Position Title: MHPSS (Protection) Coordinator
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Under the supervision of project manager, the MHPSS (Protection) Specialist provides technical guidance to WV and partner staff, supporting implementation of MHPSS and protection activities - ensuring the program is of a high technical quality, monitoring processes are in place, mentoring of partner staff is provided and that the program is continually assessed and solutions quickly put in place for a change of context.
Major Responsibilities:
Work Closely with WVs Global MHPSS Technical Advisor to set up and establish follow up mechanisms for all MHPSS components of the project
Provide technical guidance, leadership, mentorship and support for partner protection MHPSS staff including psychologists, psychosocial workers, CHW, among others
Provide training and other capacity building activities so as to ensure that partner protection, health and MPHSS programing meet the required technical expectations/is in line with relevant programing guidance and therapeutic protocols.
Conduct monitoring of staff engaged in MHPSS activities, including sampling cases and checking cases are managed as per relevant therapeutic protocols; assuring fidelity of mental health interventions.
Where deemed necessary, provide clinical supervision to Master Trainers and in-field Supervisors for capacity development and stronger fidelity of psychological interventions and approaches.
Establish and maintain a reporting system (or database) for MPHSS, ensuring that reporting is timely and technically accurate.
Give technical input during project design, M&E assessment (including research etc) so that the project meets technical expectations.
Work with Protection GBV Technical Advisor (Consultant) to harmonize GBV and MHPSS project components
Work with partner protection staff to facilitate coordination between MHPSS and GBV components of the program, including provision of psychosocial support to GBV survivors, Do No Harm principles are applied
Work with Regional Child Protection Advisor under supervision of Health and Protection Portfolio Manager and together with Technical team to ensure include of technical input on child protection into program
Assist in provision of trainings for partner staff on other protection topics when required
Represent WV at different coordination forums such as the MPHSS, CP, GBV working groups and clusters
Education:
Bachelor (preferable Masters) degree in Psychology, Clinical Psychology or Clinical Social work or health/Social science with training in MPHSS health.
Experience:
At least 2 years of previous experience of NGO work
Knowledge & Skills:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work as part of a team and demonstrate flexibility, motivation, and maturity
Good knowledge of quality standards and quality controls related to medical practice
Knowledge of IASC MPHSS guidelines, mHGAP, PM+ and other MPHSS approaches specific to low-middle income contexts
Familiar with core principles of Children’s Rights, Child Protection, Participation, and ‘Do No Harm.’
Excellent planning skills
Excellent English and Arabic communication skills (both oral and written)
Experience in MHPSS program implementation,
Clinical experience, experience of supervision is desired
Experience of delivering trainings
Experience working with IDPs and conflict affected persons.
